like very short varieties of I and U. Like l and r they undergo<br />

In RP tj and dj often become affricated to T and D. You might<br />

2.6.3 Bilabial approximant<br />

w is problematic <strong>for</strong> <strong>Icelanders</strong>. Be careful not to confuse it<br />

with v. <strong>English</strong> v is a labiodental fricative, not a soft<br />

approximant like Icelandic v; but w is a bilabial approximant<br />

with secondary velar articulation: this means that while the lips
