thickness 0.8-0.9 mm.<br />

Description. - Quinqueloculine stage oval, triangular in cross-section,<br />

periphery subacute; chambers slightly inflated, middle chamber with<br />

slightly prominent edge, fifth chamber hardly visible as a narrow band:<br />

massiline stage broadly oval, somewhat depressed, lenticular in crosssection,<br />

periphery subacute; chambers broad, slightly inflated, middle<br />

chamber small, oval, tapering at both ends, a little convex, with somewhat<br />

prominent edge, fifth chamber narrow, distinct; sutures flat, hardly<br />

visible; wall thick, surface smooth, polished; aperture large, oval, surrounded<br />

with thickened rim, with long simple bifid tooth.<br />

Variability. The periphery of quinqueloculine forms may be more or<br />

less acute and the walls may be quite flat.<br />

Dimorphism. The large massiline forms and quinqueloculine forms<br />

belong to the microspheric generation and the small quinqueloculine forms<br />

to the microspheric and megalospheric II generations (Text-fig. 20).<br />

Proloculus diameters: microspheric - 10-20~, megalospheric II­<br />

150-230 fL The megalospheric I generation has not been found; the<br />

massiline forms are rare.<br />

Remarks. - In general appearance this form resembles two species:<br />

Quinqueloculina buchiana d'Orbigny and Q. lentica sp.n.. From the first<br />

one it differs in having a more compact and thicker test and in lacking<br />

a sharp and keeled periphery. From the second one it differs in its<br />

elongated, not circular, shape and in more flattened walls. From Q. parakneriana<br />

sp.n. it is distinguished by the broader oval test and subacute,<br />

not rounded, periphery.<br />

Distribution. - Poland: Lower Tortonian (Benczyn, Choment6w, Grabki<br />

Duze, Karsy, Korytnica, L~ki Dolne, Niechobrz). Czechoslovakia: Lower<br />

Tortonian, Zidlochovice.<br />

Dimensions: L 0.32-0.39; B 0.17-0.22; T 0.15-0.18.<br />

Description. - Test narrowly oval, strongly elongated, regular, periphery<br />

narrowly rounded, somewhat truncate; chambers narrow and<br />

elongated, of uniform width, middle chambers narrow, slightly inflated;<br />

sutures poorly depressed, indistinct; wall thin; surface smooth and polished,<br />

with a light dull stripe along the edges of chambers; aperture very<br />

small, semicircular, with a broad and low tape-shaped tooth, which is<br />

occasionally lacking.
