Museo Instrumentos Musicales Dr. Azzarini
El Museo va a la Escuela (9am – 5pm)
Free entry, educational program.
The event will take place in the rural school of Gorina Partido de La Plata, Argentina.
In the framework of the “Museum is going to school” project, the educational community will have access to
the museum – these schools usually don’t know museums or their signification because of economics reasons
or distance.
Thanks to the presentation of many musical instruments belonging to the Museo Dr. Emilio Azzarini and of
power points, a workshop will be realized in which pupils, teachers and the community will get to know the
museums’ functions and goals.
Barbados Museum and Historical Society
Conservation conference (2 & 3 May, 2011)
Free entry, openings, conference, workshop, educational
programme.
The Barbados Museum will be launching and focusing on a
number of activities during the month of May, starting with an
exhibition in the form of a visual and audio documentary of
Barbadian Second World War veterans. A Conservation
Conference with conservators from the UK and Puerto Rico
will follow. This Conference will be open to ICOM members
and a few others and is in collaboration with the University of
The West Indies in Barbados.
The staff at the Barbados Museum will also be attending a
conservation workshop specifically aimed at integrated pest
management for one day at the Museum.
If possible, the Barbados Museum will launch a temporary
exhibition of Barbadian objects reflecting forgotten domestic
memory at The Barbados Museum and at an offsite location.
This section will be shared with other ICOM members and
institutions who can host a temporary exhibition of this
nature. Texts will highlight the use of the objects accompanied
by images.
In addition, a large book or canvas will be installed for visitors
and locals to document in their chosen form any type of
memory. The African Gallery at the Barbados Museum will also
host two small cases containing miniature African figurines and
objects as part of our contribution to highlight Africa's cultural
contribution to the world.
