On the occasion <strong>of</strong> IMD 2011 and to mark the golden jubilee<br />

celebrations <strong>of</strong> African independence, the Museum <strong>of</strong> Civilization /<br />

Program Route des Chefferies (MDC / PRDC) would like to share with<br />

its audience the relevance <strong>of</strong> the generic theme Museum and<br />

Memory through the vision people have <strong>of</strong> the remains <strong>of</strong> the preindependence<br />

period to the present day Cameroon.<br />

It is also an opportunity for the MDC / PRDC to communicate its<br />

approach in the fight against illicit traffic in cultural heritage.<br />

Part <strong>of</strong> the entertainment programme for IMD 2011 at the MDC /<br />

PRDC aims to educate its audiences, particularly young people, on the<br />

preservation <strong>of</strong> intangible heritage by providing two artists<br />

performing two musical genres (folk and urban).<br />

<strong>The</strong> one-week celebration (16-21 May) will be launched by a <strong>press</strong><br />

conference in the multipurpose room <strong>of</strong> the MDC on 13 May.<br />
