International Museum Day 2011. Artefact histories: How to access the documents of the Benaki Museum

The Benaki Museum invites everyone, whether young or old, to discover the varied stories that come to the
surface when we study museum artefacts. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the course of an
artefact from the time it enters into the Museum management system; the research that goes into enhancing
our knowledge about it; how this is presented to the public; and how to disseminate the kind of cultural
knowledge it represents. The Museum Educational Programmes and the Department of Information
Technology work together in the exhibition spaces of the Benaki Museum Greek Collections, providing the
public with novel activities and applications.

adults based on the exhibition of the museum collection. Arranged meetings.
17.00-20.00, "Metamyth" by Thaleia Valeta. An experiential tour about the exhibition of the collection of the
museum and the exhibition "Berliner Zimmer".
22.00-00.00, A music concert by the group "Your hand in Mine".

17.00-20.00, Open discussion at the Museum by Thaleia Valeta, dedicated to the museum visitors who have
the chance to discuss and present their experience in the museum environment, describe their emotions and
expectations.
21.30-23.00, A music concert by the Jazz Ensemble of the students of Contemporary Conservatoire.
