unless you are interested in THE INTERNATIONALIST and want to see it reach hundreds of thousands.
We don't want you to read what follows because, unless you are interested, you might be disappointed.
This is a talk with interested readers, and others are not invited. Of course, if you feel
an awakening interest, you may stay and .read on a little further.
Now here are some facts. They are not secret. Every one who reads the daily papers and thinks
just a little, or even observes if he does not think, knows the truth of them. The facts are these:
1 .—The world is becoming Socialistic.
2.—There are few influential radical publications.
3.—The demand for radical literature that is genuinely constructive is greater than ever before.
4.—THE INTERNATIONALIST occupies first place today in the radical field.
What we want you to draw from these statements is that THE INTERNATIONALIST is entering a
world field. It wants to increase the size of its audience. It wants to reach more people.
Now, if you don't like THE INTERNATIONALIST, right here is the place for you to quit reading.
Throw the magazine away and write to have your subscription stopped. But if you do like it, even if
you don't like every article, keep this number.
But don't stop at that. Loan it to a friend. Make him say whether he likes it or not, and then get
his subscription. That won't cost you anything and it will cost him only a dollar, and he will get $12
worth of benefit out of it during the year.
But that isn't what \fe want you to do altogether. That isn't enough. There are hundreds of radical
people in every community. They are willing to pay $1 a year to get twelve messages from the foremost
writers of the country on radical subjects. That is only 8c a message, which is pretty cheap when
the character of these messages is considered.
Now if you are willing to get six persons to read THE INTERNATIONALIST, you can get six
subscriptions for $3.60, by buying sub cards in advance.
Or, if you know someone who is a hustler—and this is the thing we have been wanting to tell you
all along— get him to become subscription agent for THE INTERNATIONALIST. He can buy sub-cards
in lots of ten or more at 50c each and they sell for one dollar. If he is good enough in hustling to
sell four in a day he makes $2 for himself. If he should be one of those Number One hustlers, he might
sell ten and make $5.00.
Now if you happen to know of such a fellow or girl or woman, or happen to be such a person yourself,
why not take up this work? Take it up to help THE INTERNATIONALIST because it is the best
radical magazine today, and should be read by every one of your neighbors. Take it up because there
is a liberal commission paid.
But remember this: if you want to see the dawn of a better day you have got to do some hustling
on your own account. You can't sit down and let others do all the work. If you know half a dozen or
half a hundred or half a thousand people who could be benefited by having some new ideas penetrate
their minds, then nominate yourself Chief Sub-Getter of you neighborhood and we will elect you. Then
send in for six sub-cards for $3.60, or send in $5 and get ten, and prove to yourself that you are a real,
genu-wine, sure-enough sub-getter who can deliver the goods. If you never sold a sub-card, see if you
can. If you don't think you can, prove that you have a right to be considered of some use to the radical
movement.
Are you willing to do something besides read The INTERNATIONALIST? Of course we are glad to
have your name on the mailing list, but if you wi'l get someone else to do it, you will have made your
self really popular, and you will have a sense of having done something to spread the ideas you believe
in.
Why not get some boy or girl into the habit, some young man or young woman into the way of taking
subscriptions? The commission is liberal. The magazine makes its way everywhere.
If you sit down right now, write us a letter, send in your order for ten sub-cards, put in a $5 bill,
or a money order, and then get busy when the sub-cards arrive, v/e will know that you DID read this
through after all, and that you really ARE interested and that it wasn't mere curiosity that made you
read through but that you are a constructive builder and like THE INTERNATIONALIST, and think
others
would, and want to have them read it.
Now was it curiosity, or will you help?
