Ward’s FoamBone Dissection: Exploring Bone
Anatomy Demo Kit
An Exciting and Economical Way to Study Bones
Use a pre-cut, tissue-realistic tibia FoamBone to show compact bone, spongy bone, and
even red bone marrow. Then, break an intact tibia FoamBone and perform a fascinating
simulated bone-mending demonstration. Includes two tibia FoamBones (one cut laterally),
bone-mending compound, and instructions.
Exploring
Bone
Anatomy Lab
Activity
FoamBones are new “tissue-realistic”
bone models
available exclusively from
Ward’s Science
• FoamBones are made from a unique material that makes them
lightweight, yet strong
• FoamBones can be cut using traditional hand tools to reveal
realistic internal structures
• FoamBones provide an economical way for your whole class to
cover osteological topics
Using FoamBones and other materials included in this activity, students get an
in-depth look at the structure and function of bone at both the macroscopic
and microscopic levels. Students first observe the external and internal gross
anatomy of a tibia by cutting through a tissue-realistic FoamBone to reveal
compact bone, spongy bone, and even red bone marrow. They then observe
the microanatomy of those same structures, as well as developing bone,
using prepared microscope slides of real human bone tissue. Using a broken
FoamBone and a special compound, the instructor will perform a unique and
impressive simulated bone-healing demonstration. In an optional activity,
students can witness the effects of calcium depletion on bones using chicken
bones you supply. Includes enough materials for eight setups, a teacher’s
guide, and student copymaster. A compound microscope, required, is available
separately.
Ward’s ATP
Muscle Kit
Discover How
Muscles Contract
Students can perform
several demonstrations,
including identification
of muscle microanatomy,
stimulation of muscle
contraction with ATP
solution, and correlation
of ATP chemistry with
the degree of muscle
contraction, with this
kit. It contains enough
materials for 24 setups
and a user’s guide. Note:
Includes perishable
materials. Please specify delivery date.
365417 $72.10
Rabbit Psoas Muscle Chemical Set
You will receive sufficient chemicals to produce contraction in muscle
material. The kit includes ATP, salt solutions, and instructions.
365403 $23.35
Rabbit Psoas Muscle
Strip of psoas muscle in tube of 50% glycerol for study of ATP induced
contractions and muscle striation. Each strip provides enough material for
four to eight students. The solution must be stored at -4°C until you are
ready to use it. Set of three tubes.
