Some fundamental OCP concepts: In-band Information, Tags • Core-specific information can be passed in-band • in company with other information being exchanged • for requests and responses, read and write data • Exp: pass cacheable information • Tags • Control the ordering of responses • Links the response back to the original request • Without tags • Slave must return responses in the order the requests were issued by the master • Writes must be committed in order • With tags • responses can be returned out-of-order and write data can be committed out-of-order with respect to requests • as long as the transactions target different addresses
