<strong>to</strong> the situation caused by the recent conflagration at<br />

Salonlca, I take this op ortunlty of confirming my understanding<br />

as <strong>to</strong> your attitude and wishes In this natter.<br />

I urderstand that you are willing <strong>to</strong> overlook any question<br />

as <strong>to</strong> whether the situation at salonlca is technically within the<br />

scope and purpose of your Committee, but that you have found it<br />

impossible <strong>to</strong> actually send <strong>from</strong> here <strong>to</strong> Salonlca the food,elothing<br />

and building materials<br />

and supplies obtainable t ere under present conditions, provided<br />

this oan be done without the loss or waste involved in raying large<br />

profits <strong>to</strong> Individuals there.<br />

It is my understanding that the above is in substance the<br />

message you wish me <strong>to</strong> carry <strong>to</strong> the Jews of Salonlca and that upon<br />

•y arrival there and after going over the situation you wish me<br />

practical means of relief which are possible.
