The officer steps out.<br />
The Man hugs his wife, tries to comfort her. He walks over<br />
to the busted door, picks up a few pieces, a door HINGE.<br />
Drops it.<br />
The Woman walks down the passageway.<br />
Beth stands there, looking towards her solemnly.<br />
BETH<br />
I’ll leave.<br />
The Woman SIGNS intensely. Shakes her head with a furrowed<br />
brow.<br />
The Man appears behind his wife.<br />
BETH<br />
I said, I’ll go. It’s my choice.<br />
EXT. CUBA STREET - APARTMENT BLOCK<br />
A POLICE VAN departs. A PATROL CAR, LIGHTS ON but silent,<br />
remains parked up on the street. LIGHT AMBIENCE flickers<br />
intermittently across the street.<br />
An officer forces a few curious folks to move on.<br />
INT. FAMILY APARTMENT (AN HOUR LATER)<br />
The vacant hole where the front door was has been covered<br />
over with a PLASTIC SHEET and DUCT TAPE.<br />
Beth picks up unbroken things, carries them through to the<br />
kitchen.<br />
The Woman sweeps up rubbish. Beth holds open a RUBBISH BAG<br />
for her while she fills it with junk and broken glass from<br />
the coffee table.<br />
The Man comes out with two CUPS of tea.<br />
MAN<br />
Sorry, no sugar.<br />
The Woman SIGNS: You should stay. Please stay.<br />
Beth looks to the Man.<br />
