Tree, to 15 n1 tall. Tem1inal buds pubescent with rusty erect, short curly hairs. Twigs<br />

terete, compressed when young, sparsely pubescent with erect short curly hairs or almost<br />

glabrous. Leaves opposite; petioles ca. 0.5 em long, flat above, sparsely pubescent or<br />

glabrous, concolorous with or slightly darker than twigs; blades chartaceous, elliptic, <strong>of</strong>ten<br />

asymmetrical and sinuate, 6.5-12 x 3-6.5 cn1; base cuneate, not inrolled, apex emarginate to<br />

round; leaf surface glabrous on both sides, uncertain whether lower leaf surface glaucous or<br />

not; n1idrib immersed above, raised below, secondary veins 7-8 pairs, slightly raised or<br />

almost in1mersed above, raised below, tertiary veins not percurrent, ramification coarse,<br />

square-like with free veinlets, slightly raised or almost in1mersed above, slightly raised<br />

below. Inflorescences axillary, paniculate, 3-5 em long, aln1ost glabrous or sparsely<br />

pubescent with erect short curly hairs, with 15-30 flowers per inflorescence; flower pedicels<br />

<strong>of</strong> the lateral divisions 0.5-1.2 mm long, pedicels <strong>of</strong> the central flowers up to 3 n1mlong.<br />

Flowers 2-2.8 mm long, 2.2-2.8 mm in diam.; tepals 6, equal, ovate, 1.2-1.5 mm long,<br />

0.8-1.2 mm wide, almost glabrous outside, sparsely pubescent with appressed hairs inside;<br />

stan1ens 9, outer six filaments ca. 0.2 1111n long, innermost three filaments ca. 0.5 mm long,<br />

filaments pubescent, outer six anthers ca. 0.9 mm long, innermost three anthers ca. 0.7 mn1<br />

long, all the anthers 2-celled, apex <strong>of</strong> the anthers obtuse to truncate, anthers pubescent,<br />

glands <strong>of</strong> innermost three stamens globose; stan1inodia 3, ca. 0.7 mm long; pistil 1-1.5 mm<br />

long, glabrous, ovary as long as pistil and gradually narrowed into the style; receptacle<br />

pubescent with appressed hairs. Fruits unknown.<br />

Phenology: collected in flower in October and December.<br />

Distribution: Sao Paulo, Brazil (Fig. 9).<br />
