initial stock of medical supplies was provided with CI nhnds, while ICRC<br />

provided supplies for the feeding progmm. OXFAM contributed the vehicles<br />

to make the teams self-sufficient.<br />

CI carried on its relief program in FM; areas throughout 1968 and 1969<br />

through the Social Welfare Cepartment of the Catholic Secretariat of<br />

Nigeria, which is a member of the National Relief Comnission. Other members<br />

included the ICRC, Christian Council of Nigeria (WCC), Catholic Relief<br />

Services, and several national organizations.<br />

Although many national Caritas organizations provided millions of dollars<br />

worth of supplies, CI is not credited here with the value of donations in<br />

kind. Credit for these donations has been given under private donations<br />

by specific countries in the "Other Nationsw section. Also, sane of the<br />

individual Caritas cash donatl.ons were listed with the total contributions<br />

reported by particular countries. The following are cash contributions by<br />
