Fairchild-Hiller Corporation<br />

A unique contribution was mde early in the crisis by a 3-lran team f2-m the<br />

Fairchild-Hiller Corporation, which received considerable publicity. They<br />

were in Managua to demonstrate a new helicopter. When they heard of the<br />

disaster, they volunteered their services. krhg the August 13-14 period<br />

they rendered invaluable assistance, evacuating 34 Hornen and children horn<br />

the village of Mistrook and assisting the Nicaraguan Air Force (FAN) in<br />

reconnaisance operations and in airdrops of supplies to flood victims.<br />

The team was decorated by the FAN.<br />
