1 ,3 Food Production<br />
The size <strong>of</strong> land owned, guantity <strong>of</strong> food crops produced, quantity <strong>of</strong><br />
cash crops rpoduced, number <strong>of</strong> livestock owned, backyard garden<strong>in</strong>g<br />
(quantity <strong>of</strong> fruits and vegetables produced), number <strong>of</strong> poultry raised,<br />
and number <strong>of</strong> milk animals owned were <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical model<br />
as <strong>in</strong>dicalor variable <strong>of</strong> food production.<br />
3.1.4 Income (total <strong>in</strong>come)<br />
Income from <strong>the</strong> sale <strong>of</strong> agriculturaL products, <strong>in</strong>come from <strong>in</strong>come<br />
generat<strong>in</strong>g activities and o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong>come sources were considered as <strong>in</strong>dicator<br />
variables <strong>of</strong> total <strong>in</strong>come.<br />
3.1.5 Child Feed<strong>in</strong>q<br />
BreasÈ*feed<strong>in</strong>g (duration and frequency <strong>of</strong> breast-feed<strong>in</strong>g), additional<br />
food (type and start<strong>in</strong>g age <strong>of</strong> additionar food), wean<strong>in</strong>g food (type,<br />
frequency and star!<strong>in</strong>g age <strong>of</strong> wean<strong>in</strong>g food), food taboos and maternal<br />
feed<strong>in</strong>g were considered as <strong>in</strong>dicator variables <strong>of</strong> child-feed<strong>in</strong>g practices<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical model.<br />
3,1.6 Education <strong>of</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r<br />
Knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r about basic pr<strong>in</strong>ciples <strong>of</strong> child nutrition,<br />
knowledge <strong>of</strong> lhe mo<strong>the</strong>r about basic child health care, read<strong>in</strong>g and writ<strong>in</strong>g<br />
capability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r, and formal education already achieved by<br />
<strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r were considered as <strong>in</strong>dicator variables <strong>of</strong> maternal education.
