Who can apply? 

Experienced researchers 

Researchers who at the date of the deadline are in 

possession of a doctoral degree, or having at least 4 

years of full-time equivalent research experience 

“The action is directed at life-long training and career 

development and, although not excluding first postdocs, 

addresses researchers with a more senior 

profile in terms of experience” 

NO UPPER AGE LIMIT 


Eligibility Criteria (IEF) 

• Researchers must be nationals of a Member 

State or Associated country and the host 

institution's premises must be located in a 

different Member State or Associated country 

• They must not have resided or carried out their 

main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country 

of the host organisation for more than 12 

months in the 3 years prior to the relevant 

deadline for submission. 


How long does the fellowship last? 

•Financial support is provided to the proposals 

selected by the Commission, for a period of 12 

to 24 months full-time equivalents (FTEs). 

•Part time: possible but difficult to obtain (not 

automatic) 


How does it work? 

Proposals are submitted jointly by the host 

organisation and the individual researcher, 

within the specified deadlines, and are evaluated 

by external independent experts against a series 

of predetermined criteria.

Last call: 

Total number of proposals submitted: 1.701 of 

which 1.672 were eligible. 

Success rate: This action was largely 

oversubscribed and very competitive in terms 

of quality. It is estimated that 25.3% of the 

proposals can be funded
