extractors; scientific blasting pattern will
reduce the air borne dust.
Development of greenbelt within
mining area, proper maintenance of
machinery, personal protective wears.
These measures will keep the noise
within permissible limits.
There is no process plant. Mining will
be done at a shallow depth above
ground water level and there is no run
of water from the mine.
Soil if encountered will be stacked
separately and spread evenly over
worked out areas for plantation.
Plantation within ML area has already
been started and shall be continued in
future all around within the ML area.
This will improve the floral
environment of the surroundings.
Marine National Park exists in the
buffer zone not in lease area so no
impact is anticipated on MNP.
Moreover proper care shall be taken in
guidance of forest department.
CHAPTER 7.0
ENVIROMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN
The mining in the area should propose a time bound management plans so that
impacts on different environmental parameters are minimum at every stage of
mining. For this following plans are proposed.
7.1 LAND RECLAMATION
The following reclamation plan will be adopted in this mine.
(1) At end of the life of mine, total excavation area will be over an area of 85.04 ha.
which about 12.96 hectares area shall be backfilled & out of reclaimed and
about 60.65 hectares area shall be converted into water reservoirs. Area not
suitable for converted in accumulation of rainwater (11.43 hectares) shall be
rehabilitated by means of plantation.
(II) Total plantation proposed over an area of 60.65 ha including on worked out area,
fresh area, along lease boundary and road side.
7.2 AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Air quality management will be carried out using wet drilling system, controlled
blasting technique, water spraying for suppression of dust, development of green belt
in the mining lease area etc. whereas necessary dust masks will be provided to
workers exposed to high dust emission zones.
7.3 NOISE CONTROL MEASURES
Noise levels shall be kept within permissible limits by proper maintenance of
machinery, periodical noise monitoring, by developing green belt in and around
mining lease area and providing suitable protective earplugs to the workers.
7.4 MANAGEMENT TO MINIMISE IMPACT OF GROUND VIBRATION
AND FLY ROCK
Drilling and blasting will be carried out as per rules. Safety and optimum efficiency
will be assured by adopting proper design of blasting parameters.
7.5 WATER MANAGEMENT
The impact of mining on ground water is not anticipated because the mining will be
done much above the water table. No liquid effluent will generate, so there will be no
chance of polluting the surface water. No water will be accumulated in the pits
during rainy season.
7.6 SOIL QUALITY
There is soil covering in patches, varying from 1.0 meter, in the area, which will be
stacked separately and will be spread over worked out area and stabilized by
plantation.
7.7 FLORA AND FAUNA
There is no significant vegetal cover and endangered fauna in and around the lease
area will be taken due care according to the norms decided by the Govt.
7.8 SOCIO-ECONOMIC UPLIFTMENT
The main source of occupation in the area is agriculture. As the agriculture is low
yielding and the economical status is not so good, the proposed production
enhancement will have significant impact in improving the socio economic status of
the area.
