THE HALL FAMILY<br />

EDWARD SWARBRECK HALL was survived by his wife , Mary , who<br />

died in Hobart in her 8lst year on November 25, 1887; also by his son ,<br />

Leventhorpe Michae l, who was a draughtsman in the Lands and Survey<br />

Department, and by his five daughters : Mary Jane, who , as<br />

Sister Mary Agnes , became a Sister <strong>of</strong> Charity at St . Joseph's Convent<br />

in Hobart on January 14, 1875, and died in 1934 within three weeks <strong>of</strong><br />

her lOOth birthday; Victoria who died in London, aged 96, Anne,<br />

Anas tasia and Josephine , all <strong>of</strong> whom died in Hobart .<br />

According to Father Cullen, the girls were all artistic, fond<br />

<strong>of</strong> painting and drawing, and keenly interested in lit erature , especially<br />

poetry. For some years Anne and Anastasia kept a library in<br />

Collins Street . However , none <strong>of</strong> Hall's chi ldren married and the<br />

family died out .
