3.2.4 Conditional Registration<br />

Sugar System<br />

In <strong>Queensland</strong>, conditional registration is a registration scheme for non-standard vehicles that do not<br />

comply with the standard regulations for registration and have a genuine need to access the road<br />

network. Conditional registration provides compulsory third party insurance in the event <strong>of</strong> a crash<br />

occurring on a road causing personal injury.<br />

Most agricultural vehicles are non-standard and therefore must be conditionally registered. The<br />

<strong>Queensland</strong> sugar industry has worked closely with the Department <strong>of</strong> Transport to ensure that infield<br />

haulage equipment are included under the conditional registration scheme. The <strong>Queensland</strong><br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Transport provides guidelines for the conditional registration <strong>of</strong> three categories infield<br />

sugarcane transport equipment. These include:<br />
