head of the New York State Law Library<br />

who retired in 1950 after forty years'<br />

service there, March 17, 1959. She lived at<br />

44 Willett Street, Albany 6. She twice attended<br />

the League of Nations Assembly at<br />

Geneva, Switzerland, and made special<br />

studies in international relations. Kappa<br />

'04—John Dixon Ristine, executive secretary<br />

of the Allied Railway Supply Association,<br />

Inc., Chicago, 111., March 2, 19$9. He<br />

lived at 7333 North Ridge Avenue, Chicago<br />

45. Ristine retired in 1952 from Grip Nut<br />

Co., where for ten years he had been vicepresident<br />

and assistant to the president.<br />

physician, January 21, 1959, at his home in<br />

Indian Lake. He had been a member of the<br />

advisory committee to the State Conservation<br />

Commissioner and served as honorary<br />

president of the Adirondack Conservation<br />

Council.<br />

'05 ME—Myron Clark Beman, February<br />

5, 1959, in Buffalo. He was a partner of<br />

Beman & Candee, consulting engineers, 154<br />

West Huron Street.<br />

Ό5 ME—James Somerville Knowlson,<br />

board chairman of Stewart-Warner Corp.,<br />

of which he was president from 1939-54,<br />

March 6, 1959. He lived at 329 South County<br />

Line, Hinsdale, 111. From 1941-43, he<br />

was director of priorities and vice-chairman<br />

of the War Production Board; later was a<br />

member of the Army Liquidation Commission<br />

in the European Theatre and received<br />

the Medal of Merit for his services. He was<br />

chairman of the business advisory council<br />

of the Department of Commerce and a<br />

member of the task force of the (Hoover)<br />

Commission on Organization of the Executive<br />

Branch of the Government. He was a<br />

director of the First National Bank of Chicago,<br />

People's Gas, Light & Coke Co., and<br />

Erie Railroad. Daughter, Mrs. Mary<br />

Knowlson McGregor '38.<br />

'06—Frank M. Van Zile of 625 Plymouth<br />

Avenue, Schenectady 8, November 16, 1958.<br />

He was a civil engineer.<br />

'07 — Trumbull Griswold Burnham,<br />

March 2, 1959, in Jacksonville, Fla., where<br />

he lived at 1143 Walnut.<br />

'07 CE—Gordon Byron Canaga of 3703<br />

Thornapple Street, Chevy Chase 15, Md.,<br />

February 26, 1959. He worked for eleven<br />

years in the Philippines for the Bureau of<br />

Public Works, later was a civil engineer<br />

with the Pennsylvania Railroad in Philadelphia<br />

for twelve years, and from 1935-49<br />

was a highway engineer with the Bureau of<br />

Public Roads of the US Commerce Department.<br />
