National symposium on HIV/AIDS in CAPFs organized<br />

New Delhi: Medical wing of Union Home Ministry headed by Additional Director General (Medical)<br />

has organized a National Symposium on HIV/AIDS in CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces) at Shaurya<br />

Institute of CRPF, Vasant Kunj on 19.4.2013.<br />

The symposium was attended by doctors from all Central Armed Police Forces and delegates<br />

from Union Home Ministry, different CAPFs, IHBAS, DGACS and AIIMS. Shri R.K.Singh, Honourable<br />

Union Home Secretary inaugurated the symposium. He applauded efforts of doctors of CAPFs in<br />

limiting mortality amongst HIV infected persons, below national average. He informed the gathering<br />

about expending of medical activities, equipping various healthcare institutions with improved and<br />

modern medical equipment and machinery<br />

In his opening address Additional DG (Medical) Dr. A.K. Dhawan gave an overview of status<br />

of HIV infection in CAPFs. Dr. Leena Gupta , HIV specialist gave a detailed presentation on HIV<br />

management in India in general and CAPFs in particular. Other presentation on HIV and related<br />

issues were made by delegates from IHBAS, AIIMS & doctors from other CAPFs across the country.<br />

The symposium was a successful event attended by 100 delegates from across the country.<br />
