About the author:<br />

Prof Dr Werner Gitt was born in Raineck, East<br />

Prussia (Germany), on the 22nd of February<br />

1937. He studied at the Technical University in<br />

Hannover from 1963 to 1968 and obtained a<br />

degree in engineering. From 1968 to 1971 he was<br />

an assistant at the Institute for Control Technology<br />

of the Technical University, Aachen. He<br />

obtained his doctorate after two years’ research.<br />

From 1971 to 2002 he was the head of the Information<br />

Technology Division of the Federal Institute<br />

for Physics and Technology (Physikalisch-<br />

Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB) in Braunschweig<br />

(Brunswick). In 1978 he was promoted to Director<br />

and Professor at the PTB. His research concerns<br />

have involved information science, mathematics,<br />

and systems control technology. His<br />

many original research findings have been published<br />

in scientific journals or have been the subject<br />

of papers presented at scientific conferences<br />

and at universities at home and abroad. In addition<br />

to his professional activities, he is much<br />

engaged with the Bible and related topics. He has<br />

written numerous publications on Bible-and-science<br />

matters, on which he has also given many<br />

lectures, both in Germany and abroad<br />

(e. g. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czeck, France,<br />

Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kirgizskaya, Lithuania,<br />

Namibia, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Poland,<br />

Portugal, Roumania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden,<br />

Switzerland, and the USA). Most of these<br />

talks were strongly evangelistic. He married his<br />

wife Marion in 1966; Carsten was born in September<br />

1967, and Rona in April 1969.<br />
