About the author:
Prof Dr Werner Gitt was born in Raineck, East
Prussia (Germany), on the 22nd of February
1937. He studied at the Technical University in
Hannover from 1963 to 1968 and obtained a
degree in engineering. From 1968 to 1971 he was
an assistant at the Institute for Control Technology
of the Technical University, Aachen. He
obtained his doctorate after two years’ research.
From 1971 to 2002 he was the head of the Information
Technology Division of the Federal Institute
for Physics and Technology (Physikalisch-
Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB) in Braunschweig
(Brunswick). In 1978 he was promoted to Director
and Professor at the PTB. His research concerns
have involved information science, mathematics,
and systems control technology. His
many original research findings have been published
in scientific journals or have been the subject
of papers presented at scientific conferences
and at universities at home and abroad. In addition
to his professional activities, he is much
engaged with the Bible and related topics. He has
written numerous publications on Bible-and-science
matters, on which he has also given many
lectures, both in Germany and abroad
(e. g. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czeck, France,
Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kirgizskaya, Lithuania,
Namibia, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Poland,
Portugal, Roumania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden,
Switzerland, and the USA). Most of these
talks were strongly evangelistic. He married his
wife Marion in 1966; Carsten was born in September
1967, and Rona in April 1969.
