doubters of His unlimited power: “Was my arm<br />

too short to ransom you? Do I lack the strength<br />

to rescue you?” (Is 50:2). God’s arm is also mentioned<br />

in regard to creation: “With my great power<br />

and outstretched arm I made the earth and its<br />

people and the animals that are on it” (Jer 27:5).<br />

Finger: God wrote the Ten Commandments with<br />

His finger (Ex 31:18). But the entire universe is<br />

also the work of His fingers: “When I consider<br />

your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon<br />

and the stars, which you have set in place” (Ps 8:3).<br />

Heart: There are people who are especially close<br />

to our heart; similarly, when something moves us<br />

deeply, we are touched to the heart. This is also<br />

said of God. The phrase “He has watched over<br />

your journey through this vast desert” (Deut 2:7)<br />

is rendered in the German translation as “zu<br />

Herzen genommen” – He has taken their journey<br />

“to His heart”. David found favour in the eyes of<br />

God, and He testified about him: “I have found<br />

David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he<br />

will do everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22).<br />
