<strong>GMO</strong>s are intimately linked to seed patents. In<br />

fact, patenting of seeds is the real reason why<br />

industry is promoting <strong>GMO</strong>s.<br />

Mo<strong>no</strong>polies over seeds are being established<br />

through patents, mergers and cross licensing<br />

arrangement.<br />

Monsanto <strong>no</strong>w controls the world’s biggest<br />

seed company, Seminis, which <strong>has</strong> bought<br />

up Peto Seed, Bruinismo, Genecorp, Barhan,<br />

Horticere, Agroceres, Royal Suis, Choon Ang,<br />

Hung<strong>no</strong>ng. Other seed acquisitions and joint<br />

ventures of Monsanto are – Asgrow, De Rinter,<br />
