ISEM Audio is a French company creating cutting edge audio products with a 

stated goal of gettingg you ‘closer to a natural sound’. Their electronics

Founded in 1987, ISEM is a medium sized company located in the east of France, close to the border 

with Germany and Switzerland. 

Natural sound and timeless ergonomic design are the main features of our line. All our models can be

source to final amplification. The ISEM range combines unity of visual styling with sumptuous finish,

Music First Audio 

Music First excel in the constriction of high quality audio components. We have 

selected their finest - a high performance transformer based magnetic volume control. It features two 

highly acclaimed attenuating transformers and Swiss made ELMA switches point-to-point hand wired 

into a custom case. It changes output level via passive control in multiple steps to control the volume 

of high fidelity audio. This passive control unit, by applying transformer technology, offers a material 

improvement over all previous such schemes based around resistive attenuation. 

The concept of passive control units replacing active line preamplifiers has existed for some time. 

Conventional passive preamplifiers have relied on resistive networks selected with a switch or rotary 

variable resistors. The fundamental problem with this type of device is substantial mismatches of 

impedance either at the source or the load, coupled with a perceived loss of dynamics. 

Musical Life 

Musical Life is an high end audio manufacturer based 

in Germany. Their range of products includes turntables, arms and cartridges.

Trafomatic Audio 

Trafomatic Audio of Serbia is an award winning audio manufacturer and 

has followed up on its stunning tube powered Experience One and Two integrated amplifiers reviewed 

in Sixmoons with new a phono stage and line stage preamps. The Experience Phono One preamp uses 

three 6N23P double triodes and an EZ81 tube rectifier, and is available in either moving magnet or 

moving coil versions. The Experience Line One uses two 6N1P double triodes and an EZ81 rectifier. It 

features five single-ended inputs and a fixed tape output, a toroidal transformer, Mundorf capacitors, 

and a remote control.

Mains power & filters 


We know that the audio performance of any system is a complex outcome determined by many 

factors, including the audio components in the chain as well as the mains quality. It’s for this reason 

we believe in ‘entire’ system tuning – and this means ensuring optimal signal quality in the system. 

And this starts at the wall socket! See the above diagram for Audioplan recommended connections. 

We are not alone in this thinking. This is an extract from HiFi+ that puts forward the same notion: 

“Like the other reviews in this issue this is a system review - but it's a system review with a difference. 

Say the word 'System' to most people interested in hi-fi and they'll start mentally ticking off a source, 

amplifier and speakers. They might even get as far as the cables, but the lion's share of their attention 

is definitely going to be directed at those boxes full of electronic components. But, in the same way 

that you cant listen to an amp without giving it a signal and connecting it up to some sort of speakers, 

you can't listen to electronics without providing power, signal transmission and some kind of physical 

support. So, if the speakers are just as important to the notion of 'System' as the amplifier, then so 

too are the other elements such as cabling. Yet all too often, despite recent realisations of the impact 

that these elements have on overall performance, they are dismissed as peripheral or mere ancillaries, 

despite their fundamental role in the great scheme of things.”

Leads & cables 


PowerCord S 

The PowerCord is a symmetric power cable with four instead of the usual three leads. The fourth lead 

is a second ground conductor placed opposite the first. This creates a quasi-symmetric arrangement. 

PowerCord uses high-purity, heavy silver-plated copper litz wire with increased conductivity. The litz 

wire and cable design meet the requirements of the VDE. The individual conductors are isolated with 

materials demonstrating low loss and accumulation effect. This unique design ensures low emission, 

high resistance to interference and the best possible dynamic characteristics for the conductor and 

avoids any loss of dynamics due to eddy current and dielectric effects. Finally, the use of Sicomin feet 

ensures that mechanical vibrations do not become electrical noise due to induction effects. 

CleanCord S 

The CleanCord is a PowerCord combined with a high-frequency filter. The filter is built around the 

individual leads of the PowerCord without intersecting them. The filter unit is positioned directly in 

front of the rubber connector and therefore directly in front of the component to be filtered. CleanCord 

does need a fuse and features no current limiting. The filter effect of the CleanCords is restricted to 

extremely high frequencies and supplements the effect of the FineFilter and PowerPlant. CleanCord is 

especially suited for all digital components, such as CD or DVD payers or D/A converters.

Filters 


FineFilter S 

The FineFilter is a highly resistant, universally applicable collective filter for audio and video systems. 

The filter is built with such low impendence, that even the largest power amps can be operated 

without loss of dynamics. The built-in safety reserve is typical for Audioplan: The components of the 

FineFilter S can therefore withstand continuous current of 25 amps. This ensures that even the most 

extreme current peaks can flow without being limited by the filter or themselves producing 

interference due to saturation or overload effects (long-term stability). The filter is used to filter out 

audio interference, which could otherwise reach the system through the power mains. As such, it 

represents a component in the power filter and power outlet system which Audioplan have developed 

consisting of the PowerStar, PowerPlant and PowerCord & CleanCord. 

PowerPlant 100 S 

The PowerPlant is a very high quality filter specifically designed for digital equipment and is used to 

decouple individual components from the power mains to prevent them from emitting RF interference 

into the power line or to protect them from power interference if they are especially sensitive. The 

unique design of the PowerPlant with multiple nested windings, numerous shieldings and specially 

made and tuned filter components provides high, so-called reverse damping. This means that not only 

is the interference coming from the power mains, interference going from the filtered components into 

the power line is also filtered. While the PowerPlants is most suitable for for use with digital

components, however phono stages and many other analogue drives can benefit from separate 

filtering with PowerPlant – especially in connection with the FineFilter as a collective filter. 

Distribution blocks 


PowerStar S 

The influence of the power supply on the sound of a hi-fi system became apparent during intensive 

listening sessions for development over 25 years ago. Audioplan discovered that an audio system 

sounded different depending on the plug position of an individual component in the power outlet strip; 

power polarity. The reason for this is the equalizing currents, which flow through the audio frequency 

lines to compensate for dynamic potential differences from the power mains end. The star-shaped 

design of the PowerStar minimizes these differences and establishes a direct reference to the main 

component in the system, the preamp or the power amp. This represents a decisive advantage in 

comparison to all conventional power distribution blocks. 

In designing the PowerStar, Audioplan have paid attention to minimizing the connection points and 

resistances and the conductor star of the PowerStar. The conductor star of the PowerStar S is 

therefore soldered with pure silver and then silver-plated. This reduces the number of connection 

points to three per outlet: power plug to cable, cable to conductor star and conductor star to outlet. 

The UK PowerStar model is fitted with 7 unswitched, high quality MK 13A sockets. The PowerStar can 

also be supplied with European Schuko or US type sockets – please enquire for more details.

Simplicité plus 

"Simplicité plus" - is a preamplifier and a high-quality CD-player at the same time. This device is 

unique in high end audio. 

This is an award winning CD player of impeccable credentials, recognised for its exclusive sounding; 

and the section of preamplifier is a separate functional module embedded into the case of the CDplayer 

"Simplicité", with two RCA and one XLR inputs. 

This device allows you to create an excellently sounding system with minimum number of components 

since you will be able to connect your player to any extra sources. The device control is provided by a 

remote control and a convenient informative display. 

ISEM Audio 

eGo phase 1,2,3 & 4 

The award winning eGo range comprises four models, two integrated player and two transports, all 

built on the same principle and combining advanced technology with simplicity. Concerning eGo Phase 

1, 2 & 3, the read-out/transport system is none other than the renowned Philips CD pro Aluminium, 

which is a reference in the field. The mechanism is mounted directly on top of the chassis, and 

suspended as with the finest analogue LP turntables, and combines the pleasure of a visible rotating 

disc with complete isolation from external vibration. A 24 bit D/A converter with differential output,

low phase shift analogue filter, switched calibrated resistor network for volume control, ultra low noise 

Class A amplification, dedicated power supplies, are further features, according to the model chosen. 

Models eGo Phase 1 and 2 are CD transports offering alternative digital standards and outputs, for 

connection to a D/A converter. Model Phase 2 also offers a balanced analogue output and is equipped 

with an asynchronous sampling rate converter. Model eGo Phase 3 is a full CD player with built-in 

converter, pre-amplifier and volume control, for direct connection to a power amplifier. Model eGo 

Phase 4 is probably the most appropriate response to the often more conflicting demands of 

performance, simplicity and value. While most of cd players of the same category are built on cheap 

mechanisms, model eGo Phase 4 features a true "top loading" concept

FM Tuner 


Apollo 

The Apolo model is part of the millennium line and a truly semi-professional analogue FM tuner based 

on a highly esteemed front head. Eschewing RDS, the Apolo FM tuner offers true ‘high end’ audio 

playback and an ergonomic user interface that is the ISEM hallmark. 

The Apolo operates in pure Class A mode for all the audio circuitry. Selectivity and sensitivity can be 

adjusted according to local reception. Ultra fine-tuning is achieved thanks to a very accurate PLL 

device and an IF 3-stage narrow amplifier. Because the stereo decoder is followed by a unique 

amplification stage based on a 3° order Butterworth filter, distortion is low even in the high audible 

frequencies. In addition, the OTC (One Touch Control) concept and the Universalis remote enables the 

listener to control a wide number of parameters. 

The sound is especially natural and the dynamic range is surprising. This tuner is dedicated to both the 

music lover and the live broadcast enthusiast.

Jazz MKII 

This is the entry level turntable and it has all important characteristics of the larger and costlier 

turntables. The finest materials are used throughout. Modern CNC finishing techniques make it 

possible to offer this turntable at an unbeatable price/achievement point. Partnered with any tonearm 

including the well-known and very good tonearms pro Ject 9 or Jelco. 

Technical details: Trim made of MDF (centralclose fiber board) - Makassar ebony, Zebrano, Olive or in 

rosewood finish. Platter made of 20mm acrylic glass. The drive over a very run-calm Syncronmotor 

sits in the trim and requires no far tuning for the exact speed. 

Jazz MKII Reference 

The constructional characteristics are similar to the Jazz MKII. The sound quality of the Referance 

takes the deck to a new level. Noble woods furniture trim was covered with piano lacquer. Not only an 

optical highlight, but also acoustically, as this has the effect to decrease the resonance particularly

effectively. In addition the wood trim is bolted firmly with a 20mm shale platform. This measure 

provides for mass and an extremely solid soundstage. 

As the further measure the Jazz MKII Reference is equipped with the very complex external motor 

control. The drive gains clarity, peace, precision and resolution. The ideal partner for Jazz MKII 

Reference a potent partner for our internal tonearms, like e.g. the Fortissimo MKII. 

Concerto 

The turntable Concerto is a new development, which sets yardsticks in processing, sound and Design 

in its pricerange. Only the very best materials are used. The three-divided structure of tonearm basis, 

motorhousing and the drive assembly unit guarantee particularly calm and troublefree run. The 

resonance absorbing drive assembly basis in a high gloss black optics lend whole beauty and selfsufficiency. 

Beyond that it serves the very clear, dynamic and natural soundstage, which will spread

The Conductor 

The Conductor is the momentary statement in things turntable of musical Life. Only selected materials

Xtasis 

This amplifier is a unique example of ISEM 'know how'. A direct descendant of our famous Antares 

model, it uses the most advanced technology to achieve a very original concept. In the interests of 

obtaining an uninterrupted signal path, ISEM has rejected the conventional arrangement of separate

pre- and power amplifier stages in one box. Instead, the xtasis model achieves full amplification in a 

single ultra linear stage which offers sufficient gain over a wide spectrum from any line-level input

This unusual and outstanding product combines in one small case both a digital to analogue 24 bit 

converter and a fully featured preamplifier, enabling both digital and analogue source signals to be 

processed while preserving the total integrity of the signal path. To ensure the highest quality of 

output from both analogue and digital sources, QuarQ employs a very high grade 24 bit D/A converter 

together with four discrete Class A amplifiers associated with a Digital Signal Processor and μ-

Modulus MM/MC phono preamplifier 

As with all the equipment in the ISEM range, the modulis phono preamplifier uses the most advanced 

available technology so as to ensure the most natural reproduction of the original sound. The RIAA 

network is split between two calibrated RC filters, feeding separate ultra low-noise Class A amplifiers. 

The overall performance achieved through this configuration is audibly superior to that of a single a 

mplifier using non-linear negative feedback. Performance figures for noise floor, distortion and 

saturation threshold are greatly improved. Finally, the power supply has been specially designed to 

preserve the high performance levels of each amplification stage. The custom-built transformer is

Continuing with our line of fine amplifiers in Experience series, Experience Head One tube stereo 

headphone amplifier has been released on audio scene recently. Following basic design principle in 

accordance with philosophy of whole Experience series, this product offering an extended functionality 

unusual with amplifiers of the same type. beside it's general purpose to drive different types of

dynamic headphones, this device is designed with some additional and very useful features. Owners of 

transistored audio systems were kept in mind during design phase, and especially those who are 

interested to experiment with tube sound. So there is possibility go use this device as preamp with 

separate line output and an active subwoofer output. Should be mentioned that subwoofer output has 

similar bandwidth as line output but lower performance, so it's usage is limited to lower frequencies. 

SAFETY: 

Maximal safety level has been achieved by using output transformer where headphones and other 

outputs are connected to separate galvanically insulated secondary windings, even global feedback is 

accomplished on the same way. 

PRINCIPLE: 

Also, as difference from usual OTL solutions, perfect matching of impedances for different types of 

headphones is achieved using different taps on output transformer secondary winding, providing 

lossless sound quality on all outputs as the most important point with our amplifiers. As consequence 

of this principle and philosophy of whole Experience series, high quality power supply with low 

induction toroidal transformer, tube rectifier, double L-C filter for anode voltage and top quality double 

C-core output transformer were implemented with extreme care. 

PARTS: 

Tube selection is made to achieve sufficient gain and output power with only one triode. Russian 

6S45P is well known as robust and very linear triode. With top quality output transformer linearity on 

inductive load is not critical, so with only 1,8dB of global feedback amplifier has superior performance. 

This way feedback negative influence to sound from line output is effectively minimized. Indirectly 

heated rectifier tube EZ80 or EZ81 provide low noise level and soft start without transitional effects. 

Implementation of other quality parts as Rubicon electrolytic capacitors, Alps potmeter, metal-film

Experience Elegance 

The Experience Elegance is the most powerful amplifier in the Experience series. It is constructed as 

push-pull using well known 6550 output tubes. Output power is 40W per channel, which is sufficient 

for most speakers, even those with lower than average sensitivity. This is a power amplifier, requiring 

preamplifier and opening endless possibilities for system configuration. Based on previous work on 

negative feedback, -6dB reaction has been tuned to provide sound equivalent to a good Single Ended 

application. Cathode feedback was used as the most musical one. Bass is well controlled, dynamic 

response is excellent and this amplifier belongs to the very top of its class. 

Same as all previous models, well designed power supply utilizes 300VA toroidal transformer, C-L-C 

filter and Rubycon electrolytics. Output transformers are based on a Double-C core configuration and

Konzert 

The Konzert III is the Audioplan Flagship speaker. It is a 2 1/2-way loudspeaker that 

combines the volume reserves and deep bass of a multiple driver system with the 

musicality and presence of a very good 2-way system. Numerous innovations such as RNS 

(Resonance Nulling System), the concept of the infinite virtual baffle or the complexly 

decoupled tweeter, serve one goal only: long-term listening pleasure with the highest level 

of audio perfection. This floor-standing loudspeaker with asymmetrically reinforced 

sandwich enclosure for optimum suppression of box resonance. Moulded, partially from the 

fully milled baffle for phase compensation and the best radiation characteristics. Tweeter

This is a 2-way bass reflex system with a separate, mechanically decoupled enclosure for 

woofer-midrange and tweeter. Separate crossovers for the two drivers, cast to prevent 

microphonics. The high frequency crossover is placed in the tweeter enclosure and 

therefore optimally isolated from vibrations from the woofer. All components are of the

UIC 88A 

The UIC

Super AF MK2 

This cable is made up of a combination of 8 Aeromer-insulated, signal direction optimized 

CRC (Conductor Resonance Control) litz wires out of silver-plated ultra-pure copper with a 

microphonic-damped dummy core. A double silver-plated shield with microphonic 

protection keeps out external electrical and mechanical influences. 

Triple Coax CRC TM 

AUDIOPLAN´s High Level Top-Cable in the patented CRC technique - Concuctor/Resonance 

Control. Foam dielectric AEROMER. SICOMIN damping between litzes. Two heavy 

silverplated electrical shields with shield of SICOMIN in between. Black silk jacket with 

SICOMIN reinforcement fibres.

LS16 MKII CRC 

This is the reference loudspeaker cable. It features 8 Aeromer-insulated CRC (Conductor 

Resonance Control) hollow conductor litz wires out of silver-plated ultra-pure copper wound 

around a dummy core. The inner core is microphonic-damped. The cross-section is 2 x 7 

mm2. The assembly is signal direction optimized. 

LS8 MKII CRC 

Features 4 Aeromer-insulated CRC hollow conductor litz wires out of silver-plated ultrapure 

copper. The inner core is microphonic-damped. The cross-section is 2 x 3.5 mm2. The 

4 CRC (Conductor Resonance Control) hollow conductors are enclosed in a microphonicdamped 

jacket. The assembly is signal direction optimized. 

LS6 MK III CRC 

Features 8 Aeromer-insulated, signal direction optimized CRC litz wires out of silver-plated 

ultra-pure copper wound around a damped dummy core. The cross-section is 2 x 5.6 mm2. 

The 8 CRC litz wires are enclosed in a microphonic-damped exterior jacket. 

LS4 MK III CRC 

Features 4 Aeromer-insulated, signal direction optimized CRC litz wires out of silver-plated 

ultra-pure copper in a star configuration. The cross-section is 2 x 2.8 mm2. The 4 CRC litz 

wires are enclosed in a microphonic-damped exterior jacket.
