Minors<br />
Music<br />
This minor consists <strong>of</strong> 15 semester hours in music<br />
theory or practice taken at VanderCook College <strong>of</strong><br />
Music. A maximum <strong>of</strong> three (3) semester hours <strong>of</strong><br />
performance courses may be used toward a minor.<br />
Students should contact the Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>Undergraduate</strong><br />
Academic Affairs regarding applicability <strong>of</strong> courses<br />
toward a degree program.<br />
Naval Science<br />

This minor consists <strong>of</strong> 15 semester hours. One (1) <strong>of</strong> the<br />
following courses: CHE 470, CHEM 470, or<br />
MMAE 470; three (3) <strong>of</strong> the following courses:<br />
CHE 538, CHE 555, CHE 575, CHEM 535, CHEM 537,<br />
CHEM 542, MMAE 483, MMAE 487, MMAE 579,<br />
MMAE 580 or MMAE 581; and ONLY one (1) <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Appropriate substitutions may be made with the<br />
approval <strong>of</strong> the minor advisor.<br />
Premedical Studies<br />
This minor is intended for those students who plan to<br />
apply to medical school and has been approved by the<br />
Premedical Advisory Committee. Students who major<br />
in biology, biochemistry, or molecular biochemistry and<br />
biophysics satisfy the premedical studies course<br />
requirements.<br />
Biomedical Engineering - Cell and Tissue Track<br />
CHEM 240 and at least 13 semester hours chosen from<br />
the following courses: BIOL 210, BIOL 214, BIOL 225,<br />
BIOL 401, BIOL 402, BIOL 403(equivalent <strong>of</strong> BIOL 401<br />
and 402), BIOL 404, BIOL 445, BIOL 446, BIOL 491<br />
(1-3 semester hours), or BME 495 (1-3 semester hours).<br />

Chemistry Students interested in pursuing chemistry as<br />
a premedical degree may elect the Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science<br />
in Chemistry with emphasis in Biological Chemistry<br />
optional degree program. This program includes all the<br />
necessary courses required for entrance into medical<br />
school. Students may also pursue any <strong>of</strong> the other<br />
optional degree programs in chemistry but must<br />
additionally take BIOL 107, BIOL 109, BIOL 115,<br />
BIOL 117, BIOL 214, and one (1) <strong>of</strong> the following<br />
courses: BIOL 430 or BIOL 445.<br />
