GATES OPEN: The Coliseum will open its gates to fans beginning one hour 

prior to the start of each session -- 9:30 am ET and 5 pm ET. The venue will be 

cleared between the Class 

2A and 3A games. 

TELEVISION: All four state championship games will be broadcast live 

throughout the state on the IHSAA Champions Television Network. A list of 

channels and markets are listed to the left. 

WEBCAST: All four state championship games will be webcast in live audio 

and video and available around the globe at www.espn3.com. 

RADIO: The IHSAA / Methodist Sports Medicine Championship Radio 

Network will broadcast all four games to affiliates statewide. A list of markets 

and frequencies is available on the next page. A detailed list of which games 

each affiliate will carry will be posted to www.ihsaa.org this week.

granted after that time. For media outlets intending to cover the girls basketball state finals, please 

apply for credentials by e-mailing your request (with name of individual to be credentialed) to 

IHSAA Sports Information Director Jason Wille (jwille@ihsaa.org). E-mail requests MUST originate 

from a recognized business account; e-mails from personal accounts (ie: yahoo.com, aol.com, gmail. 

com, etc.) will not be accepted. Approved requests will be available for pickup inside the main 

entrance on game day. Credentials will not be mailed. 

MEDIA PARKING: There is no designated parking area for media for this event though the main 

lot adjacent to the Coliseum is closest to the venue. Please note there is a $4.00 parking fee. For a

MEDIA WILL-CALL/ENTRANCE: Approved credential requests will be available for pickup at

MEDIA WORK AREA: In addition to press row at courtside, the “Century Club” located near the 

northeast corner of the building at court level will serve as the media headquarters and hospitality

on Saturday. This room is not to be confused with the smaller “Media Work Room” in the southeast 

corner which will be used for the Class A, 2A and 3A post-game press conferences.

the Century Club. 

LOCKER ROOM ACCESS: No one except tournament workers and team coaches and participants 

will have access to the locker rooms. 

NO CHILDREN, PLEASE: With the exception of high school students representing their school’s 

newspaper, yearbook, radio or television station, and who have a team participating, no young 

people or children will be issued media credentials or be allowed in the working media area. 

LIVE TELEVISION CUT-INS: Spot news reports showing live game action are prohibited. Standup 

reports for newscasts are permitted from inside the building provided that no live action is 

shown. 

POST-GAME GUIDELINES 

With the exception of the IHSAA’s Radio, Television, Internet and Photography partners, all media 

members are asked to remain off the playing floor and behind the ropes during the post-game 

awards ceremonies. 

The post-game ceremonies order will be as follows: 

> Mental Attitude Award presentation 

> Runner-Up medals and trophy presentation 

> Championship medals and trophy presentation 

> Team Photographs by Visual Sports Network 

Following the Class A, 2A and 3A awards ceremonies, coaches and selected players will be 

escorted to the “Media Work Room” for a formal press conference which is located on playing 

floor level. We ask your assistance to use the press conference as the appropriate time to 

conduct interviews. The runner-up team coach and selected players will go first followed by the 

championship team coach and players. 

Because of newspaper deadline issues at the end of the 4A contest, no press conference will be 

scheduled and news media will be allowed to conduct interviews on and around the floor after the 

awards ceremonies. For those working on deadline, the IHSAA will distribute “quick quotes” in 

the media work room taken from the IHSAA Television and Radio Network interviews as soon as 

possible after the game.

• Team returns four senior starters from last year’s state championship game -- Erin Wehrheim, Emily Montgomery, Casandra 

Brocksmith, Sara Young. 

• Will meet Turkey Run for the second time this season; won 46-38 on Dec. 29. 

• Allowing just 32.33 PPG, sixth best defensive average in the state; beating opponents by 27.8 PPG, third-best mark in the state. 

• Won fourth consecutive sectional this season topping No. 10 Barr-Reeve, 54-47, and defeated No. 9 Tecumseh, 59-28, for its third 

straight regional championship. 

• Head coach Tim Young is 95-7 in four years at Rivet. 

• Two years ago, Emily Montgomery became the fi rst female to play in an IHSAA state championship game as part of a boys team 

when the Patriots baseball team fi nished as the state runner-up in 2009.

• Bishop Luers playing for a state-leading sixth championship in girls basketball and appearing for second year in a row after falling in 

overtime to Austin, 70-65, in last year’s 2A fi nal. School also looking for its second state title this year (football team won 2A Nov. 26). 

• Knights are 5-2 in state championship games and lead the state in girls basketball state championships (5), championship game

• Brownstown Central defeated defending state champion Austin twice this season, including a 53-49 win in the sectional 

champiosnhip. It was the Braves first sectional title since 2004 and fi fth overall. Team went on to win its fi rst regional crown since 

1998 and third overall with wins over Forest Park and Covenant Christian.

• Evansville Memorial making second girls basketball state championship game appearance in school history following a 2006 3A state

• Mallory Ladd scored 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in last Saturday’s 69-59 semi-state victory over Roncalli. 

• Memorial winning by an average of 27.0 PPG for the year (No. 5 in state) and holding opponents to just 34.3 PPG. 

• Tigers have won 18 straight since their lone loss of the season, a 51-41 setback to Brownsburg in the championship game of the 

Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Dec. 29 in New Castle. 

• Saturday’s game against No. 4 Benton Central will be the second top 10 team they’ll face this tournament having beaten No. 10 

Gibson Southern, 21-9, for the sectional championship on Feb. 12. In that game, Gibson Southern’s slow down game saw neither 

team score in the entire third quarter after the Tigers held an 11-3 halftime lead. Natalie Cohlmeyer scored a game-high nine points. 

• Bruce Dockery is 387-131 in 23 years as head coach. Docker is one of only 10 active girls coaches with 350 career victories. He also 

serves as the school’s athletic director.

• School chasing second state championship this school year (volleyball team won 4A championship on Nov. 6). Junior G/F Kaitlyn 

Hickey was the only player also on the volleyball team. In that game against Muncie Central, Hickey led both teams with 13 kills and

• Kristi Kaniewski is 39-4 in just her second year as Penn coach. 

Jeffersonville Notes 


• Jeffersonville making its fi rst appearance in girls basketball state fi nals and chasing school’s fourth state title overall and fi rst since 

1993 boys basketball team won in the Hoosier Dome. 

• Red Devils will face No. 4 Penn in championship game, the third straight game they’ll face a top 10 team. Defeated No. 7 Mooresville, 

59-44, for the regional title and No. 8 Carmel, 63-58 in overtime for the semi-state victory. It was the team’s second win over Carmel 

this season (56-28 on Dec. 29 in the Hall of Fame Classic). 

• The victory over Mooresville was the school’s fi rst regional championship since 1998. 

• Trailing 58-56, junior Lakin Roland knocked down Jeffersonville’s only 3-pointer of the semi-state contest with 2:31 remaining and 

the Red Devils never trailed again. They even withstood three three-pointers by Carmel’s Blaire Langlois in the fi nals 19 seconds of 

regulation including one at the buzzer that forced overtime. 

• Jeffersonville outscoring opponents by an average of 26.1 PPG (No. 6 in state) and holding opponents to 35.0 PPG. 

• Jeffersonville won the Hoosier Hills Conference championship with a 6-1 mark (lone loss was to Seymour on Jan. 18). 

• Chad Gilbert is 219-43 in 11 seasons as Jeffersonville head coach.

Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award Recipients 

At the conclusion of each championship game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee presents the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award to an 

outstanding senior participant. 

The recipients of this award, who were nominated by their principals and coaches, must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic 

ability in basketball. 

Ms. Roy joined the IHSAA executive staff in 1972, was responsible for girls basketball from the inception of the tournament series in 1976 until her 

retirement in June 1999. Regarded both statewide and nationally as a pioneer in girls athletics, Roy served on the IHSAA executive staff longer than 

anyone in the history of the Association. 

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, IHSAA corporate partner, presents a $1,000 scholarship to the school in the name of the recipient.
