Dutch Class 600 Shunters in the UK<br />

The Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) Cl.600 were built for shunting duties in the Netherlands and are of<br />

a similar design to BR Cl.11. Sixty-five of the locomotives were built, numbered 601-665 by English<br />

Electric between 1950-1957 at either Dick Kerr & Co. Works, Preston (601-610) or Vulcan Foundry<br />

Works, Newton-le-Willows (611-663). Twenty-three locomotives were later fitted with radio remotecontrol,<br />

and renumbered in the range 671-693.<br />

Specs: English Electric 6KT engines, 143kn tractive effort, 47t weight and a top speed of 19mph.<br />
