East Grinstead Station / Bluebell Waste Removal by Trevor Roots:
As reported in the November 2011 issue the tracks approaching East Grinstead have been doubled
and the platforms extended. Both of which can be seen being completed in the photo below taken of
66722 ‘Sir Edward Watkin’ approaching with 20 empty MLAs on the 1 st December 2011.
The latest operation involved a digger filling a tipper lorry from almost the
centre of the site (seen in this and the following photo) which is then
moved to the side of the railhead and another digger filling the
wagons. There is now almost a complete channel cut through
the waste down to the original railway formation.
