Recently introduced species were found at <strong>the</strong> “Survivor” filming site on Ngeremdiu. This and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r filming sites should be moni<strong>to</strong>red <strong>to</strong> see if additional invasive species turn up. If it was not done in this instance, in <strong>the</strong> future posting <strong>of</strong> a “clean-up” bond should be required <strong>of</strong> film crews and o<strong>the</strong>r such permit holders. Peleliu and Angaur Quite a number <strong>of</strong> species that are present elsewhere in <strong>Palau</strong> have not yet made it <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se two islands and <strong>the</strong>re are also several species present on Peleliu and Angaur that are <strong>of</strong> concern <strong>to</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r islands (see Appendix 6, Tables 3 and 5, and Appendix 7, Tables 3 and 5). It would be desirable <strong>to</strong> implement some sort <strong>of</strong> quarantine, even a voluntary one based on public education, <strong>to</strong> limit <strong>the</strong> transfer <strong>of</strong> potentially invasive species <strong>to</strong> and from <strong>the</strong>se islands. Prompt eradication action should be taken on newly introduced species. Southwest Islands Since <strong>the</strong>se islands were not visited during this survey <strong>the</strong> following recommendations are reproduced from <strong>the</strong> report on <strong>the</strong> 2002 survey: Most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> invasive species present in <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> <strong>Palau</strong> have yet <strong>to</strong> reach <strong>the</strong> Southwest Islands. Internal quarantine should be implemented <strong>to</strong> prevent <strong>the</strong> entry <strong>of</strong> new pests <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se islands. Exotic animal vec<strong>to</strong>rs should be controlled, if possible, including dogs, cats and non-native fruiteating birds and bats.
