Think of it like this: essentially, you are hosting a party. You want all of your guests to feel comfortable, since that will make the evening more enjoyable for everyone. Your friend probably would not have asked if she didn’t think it could potentially cause a problem. If seating her somewhere else does not interrupt your entire seating arrangement, you should put her somewhere else. And if moving her to a new table is just not an option, then the two should not be seated next to each other.

Escort Cards
Using an old card catalog for place cards is a great way to showcase your love
of literature into your reception site. Take it a step further by utilizing actual library
cards, (or stationary printed to look like them), as the place cards. Guests will
have a nice trip down memory lane as they search the catalog for their name!
FAR LEFT: A line of stamped books reminds guests to grab one of the escort cards to find out where they are
seated for the reception. MIDDLE: A play on due date cards marks guests names and table numbers. FAR RIGHT:
Drawers from an old card catalog are placed on stacks of books to hold escort cards. A beautiful vase full of
white hydrangeas stands in the middle of the table while candles create romance in the library space.
