12. The system will automatically acquire a reference image and a flat-fielded corrected image<br />

of the sample will be generated for you to save and analyze.<br />

5.2 Cutting gels<br />

1. Open the drawer until it is fully extended and the UV Trans LED stops blinking.<br />

2. Place the clear acrylic UV protection screen in the horizontal slot in the inside of the<br />

drawer facing the transilluminator.<br />

!! CAUTION!! !! VORSICHT !!<br />

WARNING: EXPOSURE TO UV RADIATION IS HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH.<br />

PLEASE WEAR PROPER UV PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND FACE AND EYE<br />

SHIELDS WHEN CUTTING GELS. THE UV SHIELD PROVIDED WITH THE<br />

SYSTEM IS NOT ADEQUATE PROTECTION AGAINST UV GENERATED BY<br />

THIS SYSTEM.<br />

3. Press the UV Trans button to turn on the UV illumination.<br />

4. Cut the gel.<br />

5. Press the UV Trans button and the UV transilluminator will turn off. Remove the acrylic<br />

UV protection shield before closing the drawer.<br />
