FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT DEPUTY OF TILE MINISTER OF FISHERIES FOR TILE YEAR 1888. To the Honorable CHARLES H. TUPPER, ilinister of Marine and Fisheries. Sia,—I have the honor to submit the fifth annual report of the Department of Fisheries. The financial statements are for the year ended 30th Jane, ] 888, while the statistical tables and appendices extend to the 31st Daceraber of that year. The late date to which these statistics are compiled and the particulars necessary to complete them from remote districts whore fishing is actively pursued until the very close of navigation, necessarily involve much labor and preclude the possibility of laying this report on the table of the House at the opening of Parliament. CONDITION AND YIELD OF THE FISHERIES IN 1888.
