Head of Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Service, Bulle<br />
Charm and commitment<br />
Around fifteen years ago, having just qualified<br />
as a commercial employee, I began<br />
working for Post Finance’s Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Service<br />
team in Bulle. At the same time as taking<br />
on my first job, I was also attending an<br />
evening c<strong>our</strong>se <strong>to</strong> obtain a Federal Diploma<br />
in deputy management. In 2003, my line<br />
manager suggested I take on his position.<br />
I was thus promoted <strong>to</strong> Head of Cus<strong>to</strong>mer<br />
Service Business Cus<strong>to</strong>mers. After taking<br />
maternity leave, I returned <strong>to</strong> a management<br />
position on a part-time basis, heading<br />
up the Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Service Private Cus<strong>to</strong>mer<br />
team. Together with another colleague<br />
who was also keen <strong>to</strong> share a management<br />
position, we both found the ideal solution:
“I treat each person as an<br />
individual.”<br />
job sharing. I am currently managing<br />
the team 70%, which means that I am also<br />
able <strong>to</strong> spend time with my family.<br />
Performance and passion<br />
As Head of Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Service, I am responsible<br />
for a dozen <strong>employees</strong> who respond<br />
<strong>to</strong> cus<strong>to</strong>mer calls. I check the quality and<br />
quantity of these calls. As a team head, I<br />
must be able <strong>to</strong> communicate well, work<br />
well under pressure and be a good listener.<br />
It is crucial that I treat each person as an<br />
individual. Rather than trying <strong>to</strong> change<br />
people, I look <strong>to</strong> highlight their strengths.<br />
I believe it is important <strong>to</strong> view problems<br />
and challenges <strong>from</strong> different perspectives.<br />
For this reason, I make an effort <strong>to</strong> select<br />
people with different skill sets <strong>to</strong> make up<br />
my team. This way, we are more likely <strong>to</strong><br />
find solutions and come up with interesting<br />
ideas. Our objectives: offer cus<strong>to</strong>mers the<br />
best possible service and make a point of<br />
treating each request with the same level of<br />
attention.<br />
Enc<strong>our</strong>agement and challenges<br />
The constant evolution of the banking sec<strong>to</strong>r<br />
requires us <strong>to</strong> be proactive and <strong>to</strong> remain<br />
on the pulse when it comes <strong>to</strong> new working<br />
methods. This is one of the most difficult<br />
but also one of the most motivating aspects<br />
of my job. I appreciate the high degree of<br />
flexibility offered by Post Finance when it<br />
comes <strong>to</strong> arranging my working h<strong>our</strong>s: I’m<br />
fortunate enough <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> hold a parttime<br />
management position at present. What’s<br />
more, sharing my work with a colleague has<br />
been rewarding. This period of job-sharing<br />
has been one of the best in my career so far.
