A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE CCI
History
The Camping Card International
has been an international passport
for campers since 1953 when
it was decided to replace the
membership cards of the FICC
(Fédération Internationale de
Camping et de Caravanning) and
the AIT (Alliance Internationale
de Tourisme) with one international
camping passport, the
International Camping Carnet
(IKC). This card was especially
handy for campers who could
use it as proof of identity at a
campsite and thus keep their
passports with them. A lot has
changed in the meantime. The
International Camping Carnet
became the Camping Card
International. And the many
advantages changed as well!
The CCI is now no longer
just proof of identification but
it also carries with it third-party
liability insurance. Moreover,
campsites throughout Europe offer
discounts when you show your
card.
Proof of identity
Holders of the Camping Card
International no longer have
to leave their passports at the
campsite’s registration desk.
Instead, they can use the Camping
Card International as proof of
identity. Please note that the
Camping Card International is not
a legal form of identification, and
that some campsite owners may
be required by their local authorities
to ask for other forms of identification.
Always take your passport
with you when you travel abroad.
Third-party liability insurance
The holder of the Camping Card
International has, together with
his or her travelling companions
(up to 11 people) third-party liability
insurance. The maximum
amount that can be claimed for
damage at a campsite, in a hotel
or in an apartment is 1.8 million
euros.
Discounts in the high and low
seasons
All of the campsites in this guide
offer you at least a 5% discount
on your total bill (not including
taxes and electricity) in both the
high and low seasons. High-season
discounts are usually given in July
and August. Low-season discounts
are given in May, June, September
and October. Sometimes, periods
such as the spring-summer holiday
or long holiday weekends fall into
the high-season category. When
arriving at a campsite, you should
always ask about the discounts
you can expect to receive with
your CCI. This can lead to substantial
savings. CCI discounts are not
given on arrangements or in combination
with other discounts.
Paying by credit card
Sometimes discounts are not given
if you pay by credit card. Always
ask before you pay to avoid any
unpleasant surprises.
The CCI brochure
This brochure is distributed
together with the Camping Card
International and lists most of
the offers available to you as a
Camping Card International holder.
The discounts are clearly listed
by country and region. There are
campsites that are not listed in
this brochure but that nevertheless
also give discounts to CCI
holders. Information about these
campsites can perhaps be found in
your club’s campsite guide.
Campingcardinternational.com
You can consult the CCI website for
all sorts of information about the
CCI and camping. You can quickly
and easily look for those campsites
that offer you a discount when
you show your CCI. Every affiliated
campsite is listed in the campsite
selection.
