In addition, SOMO and ICN engaged <strong>in</strong> exchanges and conversations with a number of companies<br />

and <strong>in</strong>itiatives, both by email and over the phone. Meet<strong>in</strong>gs were set up with Bus<strong>in</strong>ess for Social<br />

Compliance (BSCI), Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), Social Accountability International (SAI), C&A,<br />

Eastman Exports, Primark, Gap and Sumeru Knits (SSM <strong>India</strong>).<br />

1.3.3. Supply cha<strong>in</strong> mapp<strong>in</strong>g<br />

In order to establish the relations between the four vertically <strong>in</strong>tegrated manufacturers and their<br />

buyers, SOMO and ICN analysed export data from Tuticor<strong>in</strong> and Madras (Chennai) ports. The<br />

export data cover a period of eight months (June 2011 – January 2012). All companies mentioned<br />

<strong>in</strong> the present report were found to be sourc<strong>in</strong>g from the four manufacturers with<strong>in</strong> this period.<br />

Review<br />

SOMO and ICN shared the prelim<strong>in</strong>ary f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs of this research with the members of the ETI<br />

Sumangali Bonded Labour Group dur<strong>in</strong>g the afternoon session of the group’s meet<strong>in</strong>g on 5 March,<br />

2012.<br />

All companies mentioned <strong>in</strong> this report (buy<strong>in</strong>g and supply<strong>in</strong>g companies) were given the<br />

opportunity to review the f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs before publication and to provide comments and corrections of<br />

factual errors. All reactions have been <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the f<strong>in</strong>al version of the report, albeit <strong>in</strong> a<br />

condensed form. Hereby SOMO and ICN have followed common pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of the right of reply.<br />

Compliance Initiative (BSCI), Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Social Responsibility (BSR), Ethical Trad<strong>in</strong>g Initiative (ETI),<br />

Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), Social Accountability International (SAI), Solidaridad, Tirupur<br />

Exporters Association (TEA) and the Dutch M<strong>in</strong>istry of Economic Affairs.<br />

Of the follow<strong>in</strong>g companies SOMO and ICN were unable to f<strong>in</strong>d public contact data: American<br />

Sportswear, Baseco, Blue Star Imports, Catecu, Global Traders Network, Iguasport, Importadora<br />

Globalistic, LLC Octoblue, Mondial Services, Performance Sports Inc. and TIV Europe. Therefore<br />

SOMO and ICN have not been able to establish contact.<br />
