This was recognition from the FSC. a non-governmental organisation dedicated to responsible f'orest management on a global basis, that our forests are well managed in accordance with strict environmental. social and economic criteria. Being presented with certification was an impo,'tant milestone in Coillte's sustainable rarest management initiative begun in 1998, the aim of' which was to develop a management system that would ensure a correct balance between economic. environmental and social issues in the management of CoiUte's forests. This award doesn'l come easy and the achievement of ~ertification is not an end in itself.
