Land occupied by the MC Herd Abattoir at 245-255 Bacchus Marsh Road, Corio is currently zoned Farming Zone along with<br />
land owned by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greater</strong> Geelong at 299 Anakie Road, Lovely Banks. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this zone is to provide for<br />
the use <strong>of</strong> land for agriculture.<br />
This zone applies to public land reserved for transport purposes. It applies to land occupied by the Melbourne – Geelong<br />
Railway Line, including the North Shore and Corio Station sites.<br />
This zone applies to public land reserved for local government purposes. It applies to land occupied by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greater</strong><br />
Geelong Depot at 299 Anakie Road, Lovely Banks.<br />
Significantly recreational spaces throughout the study area, including Stead Park and Windsor Park, as well as other<br />
smaller informal parks throughout Corio and Norlane are zoned PPRZ. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this zone is to recognise areas for<br />
public recreation and open space, protect and conserve areas <strong>of</strong> significance where appropriate and to provide for<br />
commercial uses where appropriate.<br />
Land along Cowie’s Creek on the southern boundary <strong>of</strong> the study area, including the Corio Leisuretime Centre, is zoned<br />
Public Conservation and Resource. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this zone is protect and conserve the natural environment and natural<br />
processes for their historic, scientific, landscape, habitat or cultural values.<br />
This zone applies to the Beckley Park Racecouse located in the north east corner <strong>of</strong> the study area. The purpose <strong>of</strong> the<br />
zone is to encourage a variety <strong>of</strong> uses <strong>of</strong> the land and buildings within the racecourse facility in order to enable its usage<br />
throughout the year.<br />
