Towards the Deep Blue<br />
<strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton is poised to support China National Petroleum Corporation<br />
(CNPC) in expanding its strategic focus from onshore to offshore<br />
A milestone was reached last year in the cooperation<br />
partnership between the <strong>GL</strong> <strong>Group</strong> and<br />
China Petroleum Offshore Engineering (CPOE):<br />
<strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton signed a strategic cooperation agreement<br />
at <strong>GL</strong>’s headquarters in Hamburg with the CPOE, the<br />
offshore engineering subsidiary of China National Petroleum<br />
Corporation (CNPC).<br />
Zhang Yuntong, Vice President and Safety Director of<br />
CPOE pointed out that <strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton is well known<br />
throughout the <strong>oil</strong> and <strong>gas</strong> industry in China as an independent<br />
provider of verification, technical assurance, offshore<br />
engineering consulting and marine operation services.<br />
“So we concluded that cooperating with <strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton<br />
would be an ideal way to benefit from their experience,<br />
knowledge and technical expertise.”<br />

Hamburg. CNPC Offshore Engineering signed a<br />
cooperation agreement with <strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton.<br />
According to the agreement, <strong>GL</strong> Noble Denton will<br />
support CPOE’s offshore <strong>oil</strong> and <strong>gas</strong> development and<br />
engineering services in domestic and overseas projects,<br />
which involve activities such as master development plans<br />
(MDP), front-end engineering and design (FEED), detail<br />
design as well as technical communication and training.<br />
From Onshore to Offshore<br />
CNPC has considerable experience in onshore operations<br />
and established the new offshore engineering subsidiary to<br />
boost the exploitation of <strong>oil</strong> in Chinese waters. Currently<br />
CPOE offers its offshore engineering services mainly in Bo-<br />
