Installation
Congratulations to the biggest collection of MSTS materials. With this huge collection you
will have more than 500 hours of “work” and fun.
The attention to this manual is extremely important. Especially if you have installed other
German Railroads or German Trains products for the MSTS. After that you will have a
clean MSTS to minimize the known problems of the MSTS.
If you have installed a lot of other add-ons from other manufacturers, you have to decide it
by yourself, if you want to make a fresh start.
Please read the document Performance im MSTS. It is absolutely necessary to use the
Train Store and we recommend the installation of the MSTS Bin-Patch.
All add-ons with rolling stock like the German Trains collection is integrated. You don’t
have to install them separately.
We have splitted the download into 4 files. So you can save any file to a single CD to
archive your downloads.

First you have to make a clean Uninstall. This is the best way:
1. If you have installed Train Store and/or the Train Simulator Start-Center you
must use TOOLS – Unstore everything in the Start-Center – Install new add-on.
This is important to clear the Train Store container.
2. Over Start - System - Software uninstall everything which is in connection to the
MSTS.
Train Store also.
3. If some uninstall programs are not working correctly, it doesn’t matter. This
shouldn’t give any problems.

4. Delete any files manually. Normally you will find them under Desktop – Harddisk
C: - Program files – Microsoft Games. There you will find a folder Train
Simulator.
Make a right mouse click and choose Delete . If there are some write protected
files, delete them too.
If you don’t have installed the MSTS to the default location, you have the search for
him by yourself.
After that anything for the Train Simulator should be deleted on your computer.

5. If you have installed other German Railroad Add-Ons please look under Start –
Programs for the entry German Railroads. With a right mouse click you can delete
this entry.

6. At least delete the Train Store archive container. By default you can find him under
Desktop – Harddisk C: - Train Store.
If there isn’t such a folder, please search by yourself. It is important, that the Train
Store container folder is deleted.
Now you computer should be celan and ready for a fresh start.
If you don’t want to make a fesh start the minimum you should do is do delete German
Railroads Routes. There can be found in the folder ROUTES of the MSTS.
Please delete the following folders:
Biggetal
Biggetal2
Moselbahn
Rollbahn
Rollbahn2
Werratal
Ostsee1
Waldbahn
With this you have deleted all German Railroads routes.
New Installation
Now you can start the new installation of all parts. If you didn’t make a fresh start please
follow from point 3.
1. New installation of the MSTS.
You can make a complete installation of the MSTS with all routes or a user defined one
with only the routes you like.
2. Installation of the Update 1.1 of the MSTS
This Installation is only necessary, if you have the old version 1.0 in the paper box. If
you have the MSTS in the small DVD-box, you have the version 1.2 and the update is
not necessary.

Now install the add-on in the following order:
2.1. German Trains – Volume 7 – Deutsche Güterzüge
(only the rolling stock)
2.2. German Trains – Volume 8 – V100 Privatbahn-Edition
(only the rolling stock)
2.3. German Railroads – Züge der Zeit 4 – Rheingold 1964
(only the rolling stock)
2.4. German Railroads – Volume 9 – Rügen
(only GR 9, no other updates from the CD)
2.5. German Trains – Züge der Zeit 5 – 50 Jahre TEE
(only the rolling stock)
2.6. German Trains – Volume 9 – Baureihe 151
(only the rolling stock)
2.7. German Railroads – XXL
2.7.1. Install of all 4 download files
2.7.2. German Trains – Volume 7 – Activities
(only, if you have installed the rolling stock from GT 7. The
installation is located in START-PROGRAMS-GERMAN RAILROADS-
XXL-AUFGABEN)
2.7.3. German Trains – Volume 8 – Activities
(only, if you have installed the rolling stock from GT 8. The
installation is located in START-PROGRAMS-GERMAN RAILROADS-
XXL-AUFGABEN)
2.8. Now you can install add-ons from other manufacturers. If you want to install the
ProTrain activities from German Railroads you must now install all ProTrain routes
with the fitting updates of any route.
2.9. German Railroads – ProTrain activities
(In the XXL-Package the activities are ordered by the PT-Number. The
installation is located in START-PROGRAMS-GERMAN RAILROADS-XXL-
AUFGABEN)
2.10. German Trains – Züge der Zeit 4 – Rheingold 1964 (Original-CD or Download)

2.13. If you have installed the Raldriver Controller you have to install the latest
Raildriver Definitions and Raildriver-adaptations for German Railroads locos. On
our website you can find the latest versions.
3. We have a translation for over 580 activities (from 699 activíties completely in XXL).
You can download this translation under:

Now it is a good time to install them.
4. Installation of Train Store 3.22.
5. Installation of MSTS Bin Patch.
After that you should have a very proper installation of the MSTS with the lowest risk of
trouble.
The use of XTracks or other route-specific databases are risky. In this case you should
work with the Train Store feature of TSECTION.DAT settings. For this you should read the
manual from Train Store carfully.
