STUDENT-ATHlETE AWARDS BANQUET<br />
<strong>Hofstra</strong> <strong>Athletics</strong> celebrated the <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> season with its annual Student-Athlete Awards banquet on<br />
May 7 at the University Club.<br />
Earning the evening’s top awards were: Genna Kovar (field hockey and women’s lacrosse) receiving<br />
the Dr. Nathalie J. Smith Award as the top female student-athlete, Danny Poma (baseball) taking<br />
home the “Howdy” Myers Male Athlete of the Year Award, Jill Maier (women’s lacrosse) as the<br />
recipient of the Dr. Sylvia J. Giallombardo Female Scholar-Athlete Award and Steve Bonanno<br />
(wrestling) as the Dr. James M. Shuart Male Scholar-Athlete Award winner.<br />
Brittany Butts (women’s soccer) and Courtney<br />
Crews (softball) were the recipients of the Nick<br />
Collelouri Female Unsung Hero Award, while<br />
Ben Clymer (wrestling) and Nathaniel Lester<br />
(men’s basketball) were chosen to receive the<br />
Colleluori Male Unsung Hero Award.<br />
