milestones/records set in 2011-2012 The softball team advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history and put together a school record 21-game winning streak. Softball’s No. 16 ranking in the final NFCA Poll is a program-best. Olivia Galati set single season records with 378 strikeouts and 34 wins, and set program marks with 1,018 career strikeouts and 32 consecutive winning decisions. The baseball team set a program record with 34 wins and also established new team marks in runs (447), hits (669), doubles (145), stolen bases (157), ERA (5.37) and strikeouts (349). Nathaniel Lester Danny Poma’s 102 hits, 32 doubles and 78 runs are single season records. Mike Moore tied the record for three-pointers in a game with seven against Binghamton on December 17, 2011. Nathaniel Lester (1,139) and Mike Moore (1,128) both eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in 2011-12. Genna Kovar led Division I field hockey in points per game (3.36) and goals per game (1.27) in 2011. Nicole Capurso Genna Kovar set field hockey career records with 57 goals, 34 assists and 148 points, and single season records with 28 goals, 18 assists and 74 points. Daniel Rono set the sixth-best 8K time (25:53) in school history at the 2011 CAA Championship. Men’s Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney recorded his 50th career win in Hofstra’s seasonopener against Sacred Heart on February 18. Adrian Sorichetti tallied a career-high seven goals and three assists in a win over St. John’s. It was the most goals by a Pride player since 2003 and the most points (10) since 1995. Kylee Maneja For the eighth time in school history, Hofstra recorded two NCAA All-Americans at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships as Justin Accordino placed sixth at 149 and Steve Bonanno finished eighth at 125 pounds. With their 23rd place finish, the Hofstra Wrestling team placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Division I Championship for the 16th time. P.J. Gillespie became the 14th Pride wrestler to record 100 victories in his career at Hofstra. The women’s basketball team was selected for the WNIT for the fourth time in program history. Women’s Basketball Coach Krista Kilburn-Steveskey picked up her 100th career win on January 22 versus Northeastern. Shante Evans’ 594 points and 19.2 point per game average ranks second all-time on the Pride’s single season list. Candice Bellocchio (1,068) and Nicole Capurso (1,258) each went over the 1,000-point plateau in 2011-12. Kylee Maneja set a program record with her 4.74 digs per set average in 2011 and also ranks first in career digs per set at 4.24. Volleyball Coach Kristina Hernandez notched her 50th win at Hofstra against the Air Force Academy on September 17. Jaclyn Pandolf made a career-best 20 saves against Maryland and finished her career fifth all-time with 387 career saves. She also ranks fourth all-time in ground balls with 134. Shaun Foster became just the third player in CAA history to receive Defensive Player of the Year honors two times and just the second to win it in back-to-back years.
