GEA Farm Technologies crowned a successful EuroTier 2012
with the award “Neuheit des Jahres”, novelty of the year 2013,
for DairyProQ
Bönen/Hannover, November 19, 2012 – The EuroTier 2012 was a great success for
GEA Farm Technologies. Our expectations regarding the number of visitors and the
interest shown by our customers were easily surpassed. Once more, the innovation
GEA DairyProQ was awarded as the “Neuheit des Jahres 2013”, the novelty of the
year 2013. This award was granted by the dlv Deutscher Landwirtschaftsverlag
yesterday evening. The award is unique in our industry and already known for many
years. “We have proven our leading competence as innovation leader and provider of
future-oriented total solutions for milk production and livestock farming”, summarizes
Dr. Ulrich Hüllmann, CEO of GEA Farm Technologies.
For the customer this means: pioneering innovation and the latest state-of-the-art
technology trends, which are already today customized to tomorrow’s needs, as well
as to support sustainable and efficient operations. GEA Farm Technologies products
are not isolated individual solutions but instead integrated product solutions and
services that are modulated for the areas of milking and cooling, hygiene and
services, as well farm equipment.
The following product innovations were at center stage this year:
World first GEA DairyProQ – awarded with DLG Gold medal
The world first milking cluster module for all types of milking parlors, DairyProQ,
carries out all the steps in the milking process fully-automatically: Starting from the
teat cleaning (PreDip) and the preliminary milk sample, up to the PostDip process and
the removal of the teat cups. This also includes the intermediate disinfection of the
teat cups and their external cleaning between the milking sequences.

The specialty of the milking cluster module: The milking cluster module carries out the
fitting and removal of the teat cups without the intervention of any external sensors
and actuators. The milking is thus executed fully-automatically and individually at
each milking cluster. The high throughput performance is especially suitable for large
dairy farms.
• The module can be fitted in many different kinds of milking parlors: carousels,
herringbone or side-by-side milking systems
• Free access to the animal or udder at any time because the solution provides
a separate stall for each animal

GEA DairyProView: The first software for the complete overview of the milk
production
The new software, which was awarded the silver medal of the DLG, visualizes all
areas and work processes of the entire dairy farming operation, including free stall,
calving and milking, as well as the related individual pprocesses. This unique
overview is based on real time data and allows for more efficient decisions and an
improved group management of the herd.

GEA CowView: Innovative Health and Fertility Management
This product innovation enables animal localization and the analysis of individual
animal behavior to be sampled in real time. Transponders send the location and the
activity of every individual animal by means of stationary sensors in the stall to the
farmer’s PC, tablet or smart phone. This means that for the first time a full and
continuous analysis of the position and the behavior of each individual cow is
obtained. For example, the time spent in the stalls, in the walkways, on feeding and
the distances walked are analyzed to derive the state of health and the heat cycle of
each individual animal in real time. GEA CowView offers many advantages:

XScrew: Energy efficient manure separation with electrical motor
Professional manure management spares the environment and saves costs. XScrew,
the new screw separator of GEA Farm Technologies separates liquid from dry mass
efficiently and cost-effectively because of its electrical motor. An internal screw
presses the mass to be processed against a cone with a spring. Using high pressure,
the liquid is screened through a filter with high throughput. By means of an optional
control, the separation process can be fully automated.
XScrew is compatible with all pumps of GEA Farm Technologies. The XScrew Heavy
Duty model makes reusing the dry mass as bedding material possible. The separated
liquid and dry mass can be transported, extracted or composted more efficiently.

PedicoCare System: Eco principle and full-service concept
GEA Farm Technologies is setting new standards with its new generation of foot care
systems. PedicoCare is a complete, intelligent care system consisting of the device
itself, the installation as well as cleaning substances and related services. The
consumption of water and chemicals is drastically reduced by virtue of the eco
principle: Because of its sensor technology, the system sprays only the required
quantity. Furthermore, any unused cleaning solution is returned to the system's cycle
for reuse, without a risk contamination. The system made of stainless steel fits in any
barn and is cleaned automatically. An innovative service concept ensures absolute
cost transparency. GEA Farm Technologies plans and installs the PedicoCare system
without requiring the customer to make investments in advance. The consumption is
then calculated for each treatment. The optimized efficiency in the utilization of water,
chemicals and labor raises productivity in professional agriculture and is sustainable
for the environment in addition.

ApolloMilkSystem: Milking, dipping, flushing all in one
GEA Farm Technologies has developed an automatic dipping and back-flush system
in its ApolloMilkSystem. These two functionalities were combined with the proven
advantages of the IQ milking cluster. The integration of the dipping and disinfection
processes automates two work- and time-intensive steps. Dairy farmers, who want to
improve their work processes, increase productivity and enhance the udder health of
their herd, can obtain a technology in the ApolloMilkSystem, which makes milking in
select side-by-side milking stalls or auto-rotors more efficient.
• Automatic dipping in the teat cup under a vacuum directly before taking off the
milking clusters
• Safe and controlled use of the dipping substance
• Complete back-flush cycle after taking off the ApolloIQ milking clusters
(flushing with water and then with air, disinfection with disinfection solution and
renewed flushing with water and air)
• The safety valve prevents a transfer of dipping substance into the milk area by
means of a reliable separation of the milk from the dipping process.

Feeding systems for successful automation in dairy livestock farming
Intake of feed and the quality of the feed are key factors in the productivity of dairy
farms. Automation by intelligent equipment helps in decisively improving feed intake
and efficient utilization. The GEA MixFeeder of the Mullerup product line takes over
all other work- and time-intensive tasks of feeding in the freestall barn by full
automation. It starts with the composition of the various feed mixtures, to the exact
weights at the silage bunkers, continues with thorough mixing and then dispenses the
feed into the different feeding tables for performance cows, heifers or dry cows. The
dosages of the feed mixtures, information on the individual feeding tables, as well as
the frequency of feedings are controlled perfectly by a computer as per the preset
definitions. The MixFeeder runs on a mono-rail and is particularly energy-saving for it
is operated by battery.

Youngstock Solutions – complete solutions for successful youngstock rearing
Youngstock rearing is an investment in the future competitiveness of each and every
dairy farm. GEA Farm Technologies offers modulated complete solutions for planning
stalls, managing health, feeding and hygiene of youngstock in any age group.
Additional highlights were added to the expansive Youngstock Solutions product
portfolio. The new MilkBuggy +, a mobile water tank with driving motor, heating,
agitator and portion-specific dosing control takes 200 liters water to the youngstock in
simple and effective mode of operation. In addition, the DairyFeed J CR 100 features
a fully automated feeding function for calves in individual stalls. This way, a plancontrolled
supply of nutrients is ensured for the youngest animals starting from their
first day of life by means of a process that saves labor. The DairyFeed J E130 for
lambs feeds goats and sheep in a fully automated process, whenever they want to
call off their dairy feed - at their choice.
