14: Admission Quota 

The merit of a candidate is determined solely on the marks obtained in MCA PGCET 

test. Both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka candidates are eligible to apply for admission. 

However, the Karnataka Candidates are eligible for admission under the following 

category of seats: 

i) Government Seats both reserved and general Category. 

ii) Management Seats, if surrendered by the private institutions. 

Non-Karnataka candidates are eligible for admission to Management Seats. 

Entrance Test / Admission Criteria 

The Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore has been entrusted by the Government 

order to conduct Post Graduate Common Entrance Test in the State of Karnataka for 

admission to MCA course. The PGCET is being conducted for the purpose of determining the 

merit of both Karnataka and non Karnataka candidates for admission to the First Year / First 

Semester of Full Time course in Master of Computer Applications. 

Admission to Master of Computer Applications course shall be open for candidates who 

have passed the Bachelor Degree Examination with not less than fifty percent of the marks in the 

aggregate of all the years of degree examination i.e. integer 50% (rounding aggregate percentage 

is not permitted). However, in case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and 

Category-I the aggregate percentage of marks of all the years of qualifying examinations shall be 

not less than forty five percent. i.e. integer 45% (rounding aggregate percentage is not permitted). 

Provided candidate shall have passed Bachelors Degree with not less than fifty percent of 

marks with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or 

Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional or elective. However in 

candidates belonging to SC / ST and Cat-I, the aggregate percentage of marks shall not be less 

than forty percent. Provided further that in respect of candidate who have studied and passed one 

of the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre-University Course shall also be considered 

for admission.

II) VTU BEST PHYSIQUE / POWER LIFTING COMPETITION 

Mr. Omkar Motar, I sem MCA has won the Gold Medal in VTU 

single zone Best Physique competition held at BMSIT B’lore from 

6 th to 8 th Sept 2010. He has participated in 70 kg weight category. 

III) VTU BLUES 2010-11 

Mr. Omkar Motar selected to represent VTU and participated in 

the All India Inter University Best Physique competitions held from 10 th 

17 th Nov. 2010 at Kannur University, Kannur. 

IV) VTU SINGLE ZONE BEST PHYSIQUE 2012-13 

Mr. Omkar Motar, V Sem MCA has won the Gold Medal and also 

awarded with Mr. VTU Title in VTU single zone Best Physique 

competition held at SDM, Ujire from18th to 20th Oct. 2012. He has 

participated in up to 80 kg weight category.
