14: Admission Quota<br />

The merit <strong>of</strong> a candidate is determined solely on the marks obtained in MCA PGCET<br />

test. Both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka candidates are eligible to apply for admission.<br />

However, the Karnataka Candidates are eligible for admission under the following<br />

category <strong>of</strong> seats:<br />

i) Government Seats both reserved and general Category.<br />

ii) Management Seats, if surrendered by the private institutions.<br />

Non-Karnataka candidates are eligible for admission to Management Seats.<br />

Entrance Test / Admission Criteria<br />

The Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore has been entrusted by the Government<br />

order to conduct Post Graduate Common Entrance Test in the State <strong>of</strong> Karnataka for<br />

admission to MCA course. The PGCET is being conducted for the purpose <strong>of</strong> determining the<br />

merit <strong>of</strong> both Karnataka and non Karnataka candidates for admission to the First Year / First<br />

Semester <strong>of</strong> Full Time course in Master <strong>of</strong> Computer Applications.<br />

Admission to Master <strong>of</strong> Computer Applications course shall be open for candidates who<br />

have passed the Bachelor Degree Examination with not less than fifty percent <strong>of</strong> the marks in the<br />

aggregate <strong>of</strong> all the years <strong>of</strong> degree examination i.e. integer 50% (rounding aggregate percentage<br />

is not permitted). However, in case <strong>of</strong> candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and<br />

Category-I the aggregate percentage <strong>of</strong> marks <strong>of</strong> all the years <strong>of</strong> qualifying examinations shall be<br />

not less than forty five percent. i.e. integer 45% (rounding aggregate percentage is not permitted).<br />

Provided candidate shall have passed Bachelors Degree with not less than fifty percent <strong>of</strong><br />

marks with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or<br />

Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one <strong>of</strong> the optional or elective. However in<br />

candidates belonging to SC / ST and Cat-I, the aggregate percentage <strong>of</strong> marks shall not be less<br />

than forty percent. Provided further that in respect <strong>of</strong> candidate who have studied and passed one<br />

<strong>of</strong> the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre-University Course shall also be considered<br />

for admission.<br />
