How we Prioritise
Wyndham Park, Yeovil
Spectrum Housing Group is working in partnership with South Somerset District Council to provide quality homes
and sustainable communities and as has agreed with them the following prioritisation plan for the applicants of the
shared ownership homes.
• Applicants who live or work in the South Somerset District Council area
• If there is still over demand, applicants who live or work in Somerset and then in the following order:
• Existing social tenants of a local authority or housing association
• Key workers as defined by the Homes and Communities Agency
• Other applicants that meets the sales and allocation policy of the Association.
The prioritisation above does not determine which particular home you will be awarded. Whilst we would like to
be able to give every one their first choice, this is usually not possible. In the event of competing choices or over
demand within these groups we will allocate in Spectrum Housing Groups’ application form date order, although
we may take medical needs into consideration in allocating particular homes.
The applicant must qualify for a mortgage from a qualifying lender, or have sufficient savings if no mortgage
is required. If the funds are borrowed from another source, e.g. a family member, then the RSL must secure
the equity loan as a first charge on the property. Spectrum Housing Group can exercise their discretion when
making assessments.
In ALL cases, you must be registered with South West Homes, the local HomeBuy agent. However, if you are
not already registered, don’t worry, we will arrange to have an application form sent to you or you can contact
them directly on 0300 100 0021 or visit www.southwesthomes.org.uk
Each time we carry out a Sales event we will invite qualifying applicants to reserve properties by placing a
£200 deposit.
