Pee-Wees strike gold in Butte, Montana
This past weekend, your
Glasgow Ice Dawgs (Pee Wee
division) took a trip to the Richest
Hill on Eurth to play a trio of hockey
games against some familiar foes.
They were heading into Butte off
a second-place finish at the State
Tournament (Treasure State League)
held in Glasgow, but with only one
week of practice under their belts,
there was some uncertainty as to
how the Dawgs would fare. So it
was time to find out.
First game action saw the Ice
Dawgs facing the Glacier Avalanche
(Whitefish) on Friday night. The
Avalanche came out of the gate
firing on all cylinders, scoring five
goals in the 1st period. Ryan Padden
finally broke the ice when he scored
on an assist by Keil Krumwiede, and
Padden was able to return the favor
with his assist to Krumwiede for the
goal to keep Glasgow in the game.
It didn't appear that the Dawgs had
their hockey legs under them in
that initial period, but they didn't
let the three-goal deficit get them
down. Instead, they shut down the
potent Avalanche offense, allowing
just nine shots on Glasgow goalie
Harley Eliason in the 2nd and 3rd
periods; Eliason stopped them all.
Padden scored two more goals in
the 2nd, one on a pass from Austin
Svingen and one unassisted on the
power play, and Sam Schultz tied
the game at 5-all on another power
play with the assist going to Craig
Greenhagen. Padden scored the
game winner late in the 3rd period.
An older, silver-haired man walked into a jewelry
store one beautiful Friday evening with an even more
beautiful young gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was
looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler
looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.
The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something a
bit more special."
At that statement, the jeweler went to his special
stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning
ring at only $40,000," the jeweler said. "Would you like
to see if it fits?"
The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body
trembled with excitement as the ring slid perfectly onto
her finger.
Seeing this the old geezer said, "We'll take it."
The jeweler asked how payment would be made and
the old man stated, "By check. I know you need to make
sure my check is good, so 1'11 write it now and you can
call the bank Monday to verify the funds and 1'11 pick the
ring up Monday afternoon," he said.
Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man.
"Sir, there's no money in your account!"
"Yes, I know that," said the old man, "but let me tell
you about my weekend!"
Welcome to Blount Field
The football field adjacent to Frazer High School
was recently dedicated in honor of and named after a
most deserving person - Harold Dean Blount.
Dean has been involved in Frazer High School
since 1964, including coaching, the school's business
manager, athletic director and school design specialist.
The dedication for Mr. Blount, who is always
sporting that extremely positive attitude of his, took place
on Saturday, October 25th, during halftime of Frazer's
final football game of the season in which Frazer ended
on a very happy note, rocking Rimrock Christian 60-0
with Jaylan Blount in charge of the quarterback duties.

Pee Wees continued from front
His four goals in the contest were one up on a hat trick!
Eliason made 20 saves in the winning effort.
Saturday morning had the Dawgs up bright
and early for breakfast before facing the Ice Dogs of
Bozeman. Midway through the 1st period Padden
picked up where he left off with his first goal of the day
assisted by Krumwiede. From there it was an all-about
battle as neither team could score in the 2nd. But the
Dawgs of Glasgow would crank up the heat midway
through the 3rd when Svingen scoring unassisted for
the 2-0 cushion. Padden scored a short-handed goal with
the assist going to Swingin' Svingen, and Krumwiede
would put the game away with his unassisted goal with
a couple minutes left in regulation. Eliason made several
key saves despite facing just 15 shots, earning his first
shut-out of the season, 4-zip Glasgow.
In the final game of the weekend, the Dawgs would
face the home boys, the Butte Blues. The last time these
teams met at the State Tournament here at the Valley
Event Center, it was a rough-&-tumble battle with a pair 1
Sisterhood of the
of Blues players hitting the showers early: ejected. Both
teams came out playing a physical, fast-paced game -
just the way Gage Legare likes it - but the Blues put the
puck into the net first. Not intimidated, the Dawgs would
strike right back as Svingen scored unassisted to tie the
game. Later in the 1st period, Blake Mattfeldt would
give the Dawgs the lead 2-1 on a pass from Svingen.
The 2nd period had the Blues tving . - it back up before the --- - --
X* Dawgs cbuntercd with four unanswered goals. ISchultz I hooked up with Krumwiede to score a pair of goals and
Krumwiede scored unassisted. Svingen then scored
VW..
a on a pass from Jake Kolstad for the 6-2 lead heading
""I
into the 3rd period. Butte narrowed the gap to 6-3, but
after that they couldn't hang with the streaking Dawgs
as Krumwiede fired right back for a goal followed by
Schultz and Svingen each finding the back of the net,
the latter two earning their first hat tricks in the early
season. Eliason made 24 saves in a most satisfying 9-3
triumph which had Butte singing - - the Blues.
The Pee Wee Ice Dawgs are now off to a 3-0 start
with every member of the team taking part in the wins
whether they were on the score sheet or not. Tyler
Mix got broken into hockey for the first time and did a
fantastic job.
This talented bunch will see more league action
the weekend of December 6th in Great Falls. In the
meantime, it's practice, practice, practice at the Valley
Event Center thanks to the continued support from the
wonderful community of Valley County.
