About City Plan
City Plan 2009-2013 is the key document that guides Council’s
strategic direction for the next four years. It outlines the
strategies and related actions that we will undertake to ensure
the Geelong region remains the best place to live. Council will
embark on an ambitious program of actions in 2009-2010,
to work towards realising our strategic directions and
associated outcomes, and Council’s key funding priorities.
City Plan 2009-2013 is the Council Plan for the City of Greater Geelong as per the
Local Government Act 1989 Section 125.
Community input into City Plan
Community engagement has played a major
role in developing the strategies and actions
within City Plan 2009-2013, and will also play
a major part in the implementation of these
actions. Community engagement on City Plan
2009-2013 takes many forms and includes:
> Strategies listed in City Plan have
undergone a consultation process
during their development and
implementation phases.
> Constituents requests to their
local Councillor.
> Council meeting to give public notice of
proposed City Plan 2009-2013.
> A public notice in local newspapers
calling for submissions on the draft
(28 day submission period).
> Press releases and community
newsletters on Council’s website and in
local newspapers.
> Copies of the draft City Plan are available
at all Customer Service Centres and also
posted on Council’s website.
> City Plan / Annual Budget
breakfast launch.
