Economic Development Emphasis on<br />
Bio-Med/Life Sciences<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Clerk (TC)<br />
Goal: ED-TC-1 Ensure that contacts with all customers including economic development<br />
prospects are treated in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional and friendly manner.<br />
Outcome: Staff in the Clerk‟s Office is seen as community ambassadors. Economic<br />
development is <strong>of</strong>ten influenced by a collection <strong>of</strong> small observations. The Clerk‟s Office will<br />
stand out in this field.<br />
Action: Identify opportunities to improve customer service. Empower staff to take ownership<br />
for the customer‟s experience. Recognize and celebrate employees who successfully embrace<br />
the role <strong>of</strong> ambassador.<br />
Measure: Increased positive feedback from customers identified and reported.<br />
Goal: ED-TC-2 Respond promptly to requests from Economic Development department and<br />
prospects requesting records for information on <strong>Gilbert</strong>.<br />
Outcome: Records and information provided promptly will demonstrate commitment to<br />
economic development.<br />
Action: Review current practices and process for areas needing improvement. Take action to<br />
reduce turnaround time. Update and improve resources used to assist customers in locating<br />
assistance if not in the Clerk‟s Office.<br />
Measure: Customers feedback that they have been well served. Economic Development<br />
department comments on Clerk‟s support <strong>of</strong> their efforts noted and reported.<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Manager, Communications (TMC)<br />
Goal: ED-TMC-1 “Brand” <strong>Gilbert</strong> as a leader in Bio-Med and Life Sciences to help grow our<br />
economy with an emphasis in that area.<br />
Outcome: <strong>Gilbert</strong> will be known as an international leader in bio-med and life sciences. This<br />
focus will attract associated businesses.<br />
Action: Broadcast <strong>Town</strong> commitment to Bio-Med and Life Sciences in the appropriate<br />
marketplace. Keep this focus in the public eye with frequency. Work to attract regional and<br />
national stories regarding the <strong>Town</strong>‟s vision in this area.<br />
Measure: Media tracking and website hits.<br />
