Economic Development Emphasis on<br />
Bio-Med/Life Sciences<br />
Finance (FI)<br />
Goal: ED-FI-1 Provide the Business Development Division with financial information and<br />
services to support the <strong>Town</strong>‟s economic development efforts.<br />
Outcome: Business Development will have the financial information and support they need to<br />
successfully secure business locations.<br />
Action: Identify the financial information or services needed to support economic<br />
development. Collaborate in the formation <strong>of</strong> the Economic Development Model.<br />
Measure: Feedback from the Business Development Division.<br />
Goal: ED-FI-2 Contribute to economic development success as a business friendly resource for<br />
prospects considering location in <strong>Gilbert</strong>.<br />
Outcome: The business community will view the Finance Department as a pr<strong>of</strong>essional,<br />
business friendly resource for support and financial information.<br />
Action: Prepare educational information to assist prospective businesses with cost/benefit<br />
analysis including a development fee component with options and alternatives.<br />
Measure: Completion <strong>of</strong> informational tools and feedback from users.<br />
Fire Department (FD)<br />
Goal: ED-FD-1 Expand the relevance <strong>of</strong> the Fire Department in economic development plans<br />
and activities.<br />
Outcome: Make public safety a marketing tool for economic development activities.<br />
Action: Collaborate with Development Services to support strategies. Identify and implement<br />
opportunities to improve fire protection classification through the Insurance Services Office<br />
(ISO). Communicate to employees the department‟s role in economic development. Display as<br />
positive image <strong>of</strong> <strong>Gilbert</strong> through actions and appearance.<br />
Measure: Feedback from internal and external customers. ISO classification improved.<br />
