Technology Leader<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Manager, Communications (TMC)<br />
Goal: TL-TMC-1 Use technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness in news distribution<br />
making it easy for residents to know and communicate more readily with the <strong>Town</strong> government.<br />
Outcome: Public pride and trust will be improved, and the <strong>Town</strong> will have an enhanced ability to<br />
share messages directly and in a timely fashion. Staff will be informed and motivated by inclusion<br />
in a broader array <strong>of</strong> information.<br />
Action: Distribute daily news alerts through various social media sites. Include new image items<br />
like the logos, catch phrases and symbols for the <strong>Strategic</strong> Initiatives. Watch for misinformation on<br />
the web and quickly distribute factual corrections.<br />
Measure: Traditional media and social media tracking. Feedback from community and intra<br />
organizational comments.<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Manager, Intergovernmental Relations (TMIR)<br />
Goal: TL-TMIR-1 Ensure that <strong>Town</strong> departments are in compliance with new laws regarding<br />
technology. Such topics include legislation on posting public notices on municipal websites and the<br />
new legislation requiring the tracking <strong>of</strong> expenditures and revenues on a municipal website<br />
beginning in 2013.<br />
Outcome: Legislation that will enable cities and towns to make public notice/budget information<br />
available to residents without burdening existing staff and being a drain on existing and future<br />
resources.<br />
Action: Work with various departments regarding changes/potential changes in statutes or if<br />
necessary, make amendments to statutes so the interests <strong>of</strong> our residents are being met. This is a<br />
service matter as much as a fiscal matter.<br />
Measure: The various departments have implemented the changes as required or we have been<br />
able to make necessary changes to existing statutes to streamline with the needs <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong>.<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Manager (TM)<br />
Goal: TL-TM-1 Support and encourage innovative tech research and application to improve<br />
service and operational systems, and to reduce costs per unit. Initial focus on inter/intra functions<br />
linkage.<br />
Outcome: Leverage effort through technology. Establish an organizational culture that includes<br />
ongoing technology, research and development to infuse great ideas and solutions that improve<br />
performance.<br />
Action: Establish guidelines for s<strong>of</strong>tware application consideration. Centralize technology efforts.<br />
Establish an effective and efficient technology application plan. Align the organization on useful<br />
technology exploration.<br />
Measure: Efficiency and effectiveness measure and reported.<br />
