I wanted two teas. Milk in one<br />
tea, and milk and sugar in the<br />
other.<br />
KATHY<br />
Two teas. Right.<br />
KATHY turns behind her and mimes pouring milk into two<br />
mugs. Then she hands the non-existent mugs to LAURA.<br />
LAURA<br />
You forgot the sugar.<br />
The students in the seats laugh.<br />
KATHY rolls her eyes, and mimes adding sugar.<br />
LAURA moves on.<br />
TOMMY, behind LAURA, misses his cue to move forwards.<br />
MISS LUCY prompts him.<br />
Tommy.<br />
MISS LUCY<br />
TOMMY snaps to focus, steps forwards and blurts:<br />
TOMMY<br />
Two teas. Milk in one, and milk<br />
and sugar in the other.<br />
MISS LUCY<br />
No, Tommy. I want to hear your<br />
own order. Don’t simply repeat<br />
the one you just heard.<br />
TOMMY looks back MISS LUCY blankly.<br />
Pause.<br />
MISS LUCY (CONT’D) *<br />
What other kind of drinks do they<br />
serve in cafes?<br />
Water?<br />
TOMMY<br />
Some of the kids in the audience laugh.<br />
RUTH heckles from the front row.<br />
